We had the most pleasant experience at Mary & Joe. The first impressions from the decor and visible ambience was inviting. Tastefully decorated in light hues, this is a modern Cafe with an excellent menu. The atmosphere was buzzing with people of diversity. Young and old, seemed to be enjoying their time at this eatery. The waiters were friendly, knowledgeable and quick on service. If there was a delay it was only because the restaurant was busy and all hand were on deck. It did not look short staffed. The smell of fresh baked or prepared meals were an inviting aroma. The seating is a bit close but comfortable enough space to move around. There is indoor and outdoor seating the entire place is bright and breezy. Perfect for any summers day. Parking is off road on a busy street. There is plenty of parking across the road as well. The eatery is wheelchair friendly but waiters will have to create a little room for easier movement. There are plenty of options on the menu for all members of the family and for various meal preferences. There wasn't any visible bathroom facility at the restaurant. All in all a great place to meet rith your friends, take the family or a business meeting and meal or relax by yourself. Definitely looking forward to my next visit there soon. The street location is easy to find and is safe to stroll around after your meal. We had the pizza and it was excellent. Lovely thin base fresh and generous toppings. The quiche was a generous portion, the taste was amazing and a freshly made and plated salad that was so refreshing. Well done to the chef and kitchen staff. Our drinks also hit the mark. Well...

I donβt mind paying R100 for breakfast when itβs tasty, beautiful and the portion is satisfying, but we honestly left breakfast still hungry! I ordered a Mediterranean tomato open sandwich, so I was expecting just that - an open sandwich - but there lay a lonely, rather small piece of ciabatta toast with tomatoes, mozarella and a mountain of rocket on it. I thought a sandwich consisted of 2 slices of bread?
My husband ordered the chicken livers on toast, which tasted good, but the portion did not nearly measure up to the price?!
We ordered some extra toast as we explained to the waitress that our portions were really small. She actually agreed about the portions, but did not apologise and charged us for the extra toast.
Mary and Joe seem very confident and satisfied with the product and service they deliver in a time where arrogance has absolutely no place in the...
Β Β Β Read moreThe ambience makes this restaurant. There seems to be a constant buzz of people which probably invites more people with FOMO. Like a perpetual motion machine, the buzz keeps itself going. The novelty stops there however. Beyond picking up and order from the kitchen and walking it to one's table, I don't think the waiters we're schooled in any kind of customer etiquette. Flagging a waitron down could be one way to spend your time at Mary and Jo if that's your thing. It's like watching a tennis ball at Wimbledon. Constantly passing by with little hope of catching it unless it hits you by accident. I had the same experience two days in a row. Full marks for consistency, "F" for customer satisfaction. Slim chance I'll make a third visit to Mary and Jo lest there's a distortion in the space time continuum in which case I hope to meet myself two visits earlier and warn myself to set...
