What a Circus indeed. There were 10 of us having dinner, 4 of which were overseas friends. It was not busy, perhaps 5 tables occupied, if that. It literally took 20minutes for our first round of drinks to arrive. Again for the second round, to the point where we ordered the next round well before our previous beverage was finished, and this was both soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. I ordered the Pesto Chicken and bacon pasta. There was no bacon. I queried this, and got tired of waiting so I ate my cold pasta. 10 mins after my meal was finished, then the "complimentary bacon" arrived on a side plate. It took our waiter at least 20 minutes to report back to one of my fellow patrons that they didn't have Gluten free pasta. So he had to choose something else, and clearly the waiter doesn't understand what Gluten intolerance means, as my friend even asked "does the Nachos white sauce have flour in it, to which he answered no (after another 15minute absence) , and there was clearly flour the white sauce, because my friend started reacting shortly after eating a few nachos. The good old fish and chips was dry and tough. The Kingklip was dry, overcooked and required a steak knife to cut. We had to move empty beverage bottles and glasses to another table because the waiter never cleared the table either. It was embarrassing having overseas friends having to also deal with this very disappointing service. And not once did the manager on duty come to the table to find out what was going on or even just to check on the table and find out how everyone's meal was. My friend ended up having to rush to the bathroom (because of the gluten in his nachos) and on his way back to the table spoke to the manager, who still did not come and address the table. Embarrassing, unprofessional, lackluster service and meals. That will be the last time we go to this branch of Circus and definitely won't be taking international friends and visitors there again...
Read moreI was fortunate enough to experience the culinary delights twice at Circus Circus during my short stay in Umhlanga. The first night I had dinner there I met Welcome the manager who exceeded all our expectations. He went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed and made our dinner party a night to remember. The mash potato and fish cakes were out of this world. (A must try). The spicy chicken livers left you wanting to lick the bowl. Spaghetti bolognaise and Alfredo - five stars!!!!! Each dish was super tasty with sensational flavors. Good wholesome food that will keep you coming back for more. We left that evening and couldn’t stay away coming back two days later. Welcome was there to greet us and left us in the capable hands of Oscar. Oscar made the night with his sparkling personality and excellent people skills, he made the party a real party and once again the food was absolutely delectable. The seafood platter and prawn and chicken curry is a must try. The ambiance, incredible staff and service at Circus Circus is a must visit if you are...
Read moreWow!!! Circus Circus has always been a favorite of ours in the gateway mall, but having this Gem now on the strip is such a treat. Meeting up with our old friend Welcome as the new manager put a extra special spin on things. We were fortunate enough to celebrate a special 70th birthday breakfast as well as my own birthday dinner, Welcome went out of his way to make these occasions very memorable. The meals were top class with nice size portions at a great price for the quality of food received, this is definitely one of our new best places to eat when in Umhlanga, special thanks to Oscar who was a fantastic waiter on the night. Can recommend the Chicken Cashew nut Asian dish, as well as the Curries. The crunchies served with breakfast should be sold in store as we could not get enough of them (even after they were kind enough to bring some extras) as they were out of this world. Sad that we missed out on your Tuesday night special pasta evening but will make sure to try it on our next trip!...
