Was earlier this year when I was staying at the Iberostar.
It’s a shame that the concept is rubbish as the outside dining area is lovely and has a good view.
So what you do is, is you go to the front and order your food. It’s all tapas style but the portions are small and expensive for what it is.
They give you a buzzer so that YOU can get up and walk to the specific counter to pick it up. So think about it if you ordered from different stations you have to get up multiple times. So for example if you pick up some food but then another buzzer goes off you have to get up AGAIN to pick up your food. Then the food you picked up prior could get cold. So clearly whoever invented this stupid concept did not have the customer in mind. Also what if it’s an elderly customer? Are you seriously going to get them to walk to pick up their food?!
The funny thing was, you could tell that the wait staff thought it was ridiculous idea too. They didn’t tell me directly. Like they’re a waiter but all you have to do is set a table and pick up dirty plates?? Also you have the same concept for the drinks, however my husband just told them to bring the drinks out and they did it - so see, they think it’s dumb too!
Speaking of which - tall icy cocktails without a straw? But there was a wooden stirring stick??! Have you not heard of a paper straw?? Or some businesses have been creative with a pasta straw. Like come on - this isn’t rocket science!!!
So please avoid this restaurant at all costs. Nearby recommendations for better food/drinks:
• Bar Fresh (amazing cocktails, serves free salty popcorn as a snack) • Wakanda (decent food and drinks) • Picamar (delicious food, great presentation, friendly staff, sunset view) • Radio Sabich (a bit far but has vegetarian food, good brownie, sunset view and the ability to choose the music playing in the restaurant)
Yes that’s how much I disliked the restaurant concept - I am giving you specific recommendations!! You’ll...
Read moreThe so called “Gourmet” Food market,
Usually don’t rate anything this low, but as an avid foodie and street food market lover , this was not it.
In the terms of layout , it isn’t your typical food stalls with flaming grills and long cues, think more so food court with only 5/6 selections of sub par. Probably one of the worst experiences if you enjoy food markets. You are paying hotel up market prices for low quality food. Long wait times Poor quality, cold and small potion food selections.
The concept was there however the food lacked, creativity, flavour and punctuation. With food arriving cold and the manager asking how we wanted our food ? We replied “not cold”.
The prices were rather high for plates smaller than tapas, the ideal of street food is fast, decent sized portions at affordable price points. With a basic and boring selection of choices which I could go and eat at walking distance, it wasn’t worth it. It was trying to label itself as a “posh street food court” style of atmosphere, were we wasn’t sure if we ordered at the stalls, with waiters or staff , it was an odd concept.
The best thing of the market was the bar. Besides that...
Read moreWe ate here a few times with varied experience. The first time was great - super friendly staff and gorgeous food. The 2nd & 3rd however - I waited 2 hours for a lamb kofta kebab & veggies from the meat station, which being diabetic trying to time insulin to eat was not great. twice we flagged the issue and twice were told it was a technical problem despite everyone ordering after us being served fine. When the lamb did finally arrive it was dry, there were no sides and the veg was missing. It was also that late that we missed further reservations for later on that night. The omelette station, pinxtos & fish stations were amazing, however. Always quick service , great recommendations from the staff there and in particular the salmon fish and the paprika omelette - WOW. Delicious and the main reason we visited the 3 times. other than the lamb occasion, all the food was delicious & unlike most other restaurants near by, was healthy and not...
