Waking up after our first night in Barcelona, we had a busy trip ahead and needed something quick for breakfast.

On our way to the trams, we stopped by this place to grab pastries and a cafe con leche for the wife.

While sipping on her cafe con leche, she enjoyed her croissant and took in all the scenes of what a busy Barcelona bakery looked like.

I also received a wonderful pain au chocolat and enjoyed it. Very nice and light pastry dough with a stick of chocolate in the middle. What could go wrong? It also had some nice chocolate beads on the top - mainly for decorating but a nice touch.

This pain au chocolat is actually topped with a simple syrup on the pastry dough to give it a crunchier taste.

We enjoyed our brief stay here before moving on with the rest of our trip...

A great place to grab some bakery or good coffee or fresh orange juice, both take out or dine in. Choice of croissants with different fillings is amazing and you'll definitely find something for yourself. I highly recommend croissant with pistachio filing and croissant with cream passiterie. Both were full of delicious cream, full of flavours. Also, there is a choice of ready made sandwiches and bakery like break, French sticks etc. And churros. I personally wasn't convinced as churros were really dry, a bit chewy and hard. Also, I asked for churros with Nutella and I paid for Nutella but it was definitely not Nutella spread over churros however I paid for it. Plenty of tables , toilet available upstairs (wheelchair accessible). Good location of this...

On this trip I found out that the pastries in Spain are more to my liking than the ones I am used to consuming in North America. Spanish pastries are less sweeter, not supersized, and tasted fresher. This shop we tried is located at the heart of La Rambla. We had churros, empanadas and tarta de mazana, as well as a layered cake concoction that I cannot remember the name. All these pastries we tried were yummy to the core. The chocolate dip for churros was rich and on point. The cappuccinos were also top notch. The service was quick and friendly. A very cozy place to have a snack and relax after a day of vigorous walking around the shopping district. I highly...
