Disappointing.
A year ago I discovered this gem of a restaurant, and I’ve had the fortune of spending many memorable moments with family and friends. Sadly, that’s all over.
There’s been a recent change of owner, and that change is notable. Starting with the only positive, the Neapolitan dough was nicely fermented, tasty and I enjoyed the leopard spotted crust. Nevertheless, the ingredients are clearly of lower quality than before. My calzone was half cold and our Sicilian pizza was covered in unmelted cheese.
If you’re curious to explore the rest of the menu - don’t be. Stick to the pizza. We made this mistake. The steak tartar on the specials menu was excessively spicy, ridiculously pricey and the quality of the beef was questionable. The milanesa was bland, under seasoned and over cooked. The homemade fries… weren’t.
As for service, it was exceptionally bad for Barcelona standards. Not once did we feel welcome. Not once did we get a smile from the waiter. Not once were we asked how our meal was going. On top of that, our server was arrogant, and when he brought the wrong bill, we didn’t even get an apology.
The previous owners hard work, high standards, top quality ingredients and excellent customer service is what made Positano true to its name, earning a much deserved 4.8 rating. That’s clearly not the case anymore. It’s deceiving for a new restaurant to be able to buy the previous ratings, and shameful to charge the same exclusive prices for lower quality....
Read moreCame here for a dinner on Thursday night and despite all the raving reviews we were extremely disappointed. Maybe kitchen and the waitress were having an off day but my friend and I both ordered the italia and somehow the waitress wearing glasses wrote down sicilian and gaslit us into thinking thats what we ordered and then proceeded to say we should’ve read the menu. I don’t really eat eggplant there’s no way I would’ve ordered that pizza and I definitely did read the menu. If she had written down the wrong pizzas she should’ve just apologized and dropped the attitude. Unfortunately, I’m a non confrontational person but all of us heard and saw that my friend and I pointed at the italia. I spent an extra 5 euros replacing the toppings and picking off the eggplant. My friends ordered some pastas as well and were all gravely disappointed. The noodles thats were meant to be al dente were far from it. The middle was still hard and starchy it tasted like they just dunked it in boiling water and took them out right away. One of my friends couldn’t even finish the pasta because it was so unappetizing. He ended up packing it to go and throwing it away at home… The pizza would’ve been good if the waitress didn’t mess up our orders. The crust is very airy and tasted quite good. All in all, not a very...
Read moreWhat a great discovery! Positano is a true gem in Barcelona. The food was absolutely excellent — from the perfectly cooked pasta to the delicious pizza, fresh focaccia, and a parmigiana that was full of flavour and authenticity. The service was warm, attentive, and professional, and the prices are more than fair for the quality offered. I’ll definitely be coming back. Compliments to the entire team for creating such a great...
