My Way is a good spot for a casual dinner, even though the greeting may give you other thoughts. We were met by a professional staff, with a welcome drink (Cava).
The staff were friendly, engaging into conversation with customers about anything from country of origin to the book you're reading. But stayed away from the couples and such, giving the customers space to engage in conversation of they'd like to.
The staff were happy to give advice when asked about wines and the area (Gothic quarter).
My plus one went for a mango salad, and were happy about her choice. I went for the "National EntrecĂ´te", asked for a "Raw/Medium Raw", but were adviced to keep it medium raw. Good choice waiter! I like my steak bleeding - seems like people from Catalonia agrees - 'cause a medium raw is pretty much raw here, so raw might be something closer to the lines of "Not cooked". Carpaccio if you'd like.
If I ever return to Barcelona, I'll come back to My Way.
We even got a drink with the check, a "Hoppy". Whipped cream, coffee and some sort of liqouer. Sounds like an Irish, but didn't taste like one.
So, if you're in the Gothic Quarter and wondering where to go? Go to My Way - That would be my...
Read moreWhat a jewel in the cityâs crown this wonderful restaurant is! I reserved this restaurant because it was recommended so highly by Trip Advisor ( no 51 / 7800+). I thought this place comes so highly recommended so I must reserve a table. Just out of view from La Plaça Reial, in a side street off the main road, is this wonderful gem. What a find! Cannot believe it was this good! A glass of cava welcomed us as we perused the menu. A wonderful selection of food could have been chosen! Prawn gyozas and calamari were selected and they were both amazing. For the main course chicken paella and tuna tataki were chosen and both were outstanding. My husband doesnât normally eat peppers and vegetables that were cooked within the paella, but such was the fusion of tastes, I now have to replicate this dish at home complete with vegetables!! We were unsure as to what to select for wine and our very kind, friendly, outstanding maitre dâ selected what can only be described as the perfect bottle of red wine to accompany our meal. This place is now my favourite place to eat in Barcelona and I cannot wait to return just to be able to eat here. You will not be disappointed if you visit this...
Read moreThis particular restaurant has been selected for our Christmas dinner, as I have previously visited on two occasions and found the experience consistently enjoyable. The culinary offerings, ambience, and beverages were all of an exemplary standard. On this occasion, however, an unpleasant incident occurred. Upon receipt of the bill, we were informed that the amount could not be distributed equally between us. We were previously unaware of this information, but it is a fact that can be accepted. The manner in which the waiter conveyed this information was unacceptable. After asking why this is their policy, he abruptly became rude and loud, and dropped the bill on our table. His behaviour left us collectively flabbergasted. That was a textbook example of how not to serve customers. The role of customer service requires a certain level of courtesy and professionalism, which the waiter did not demonstrate. But we shouldn't dwell on the fact that he's not professional. And the action of a single person should not detract from the fabulous experience at this restaurant. And what's more important: The kitchen deserves full marks for the food, which was excellent...
