Went to Carmencita’s with a friend around 11-12 am, torn between having breakfast or lunch. So we had brunch and did not regret it at all. I ordered the vegetarian option, a dish called “vegue” consisting of a salad, sweet potato chips and two slices of bread with avocado and sautéed mushrooms. It was healthy, filling and affordable, too! The menu offers plenty of choice (gluten free and vegan included, which is always a plus!). The waitress was very attentive and nice with my poor Spanish and always ready to answer any of our questions. The food was also fantastic! I absolutely loved my plate but I have to add that the sauce to the eggs benedict was too peppery, the flavour was quite overpowering, but the salad did help balance out the flavour. Second pitstop in the saga of the branches in Madrid. We got the sweet potato fries and the huevos rancheros. Both really hit the spot. The huevos rancheros were really well made and a reminder of how new world cuisine often comes to the rescue in the old world! We also got a vanilla latte and a flat white and both of those were great too!
The decor was white and gentle pastel, had a very "wake up and get going energy!", the staff was great and service was speedy and courteous. Definitely recommended as a brunch refuel spot...
