I had some references from some friends who visited this place, who recommended me to try the Tortilla de Brie Trufado y Jamón (Tortilla with truffled brie and ham). When I got there with my wife, I checked it was a bit crowded, but we could find a spot in the place, and we ordered the tortilla we were recommended. It's probably the best tortilla I have had in a bar, with the egg 'sweating', and extremely tasteful. Wow!
We also asked for a portion of tortilla with parmesan cheese, basil and dried tomato. I really liked this one as well, but my wife commented that the first one was unbeatable for her.
We also tried croquetas of two different flavours: spinach with blue cheese, and "puchero de la abuela" (this is a generic term used for some classic spanish food like cocido and fabada). Man, the puchero ones were awesome!!!!! The spinach & cheese ones were good as well, but the cheese were really tasty and it was like just blue cheese, so I preferred the puchero ones.
In terms of efficiency... there was a waiter really fast, and he let me tried two beers before ordering the one I wanted, fact I really liked.
Summing up, I will come back to this place 100% sure, considering they are changing tortillas and...
Read moreThe place is to noisy, you can't really best yourself. We came for the tortillas which were so so. We tried all the three kinds they had, the one with the cabra cheese was the best. They have a nice selections of beers as well. The place has few branches and we sat at the one in la latina. The area itself is full of young people and the vibe is super nice, especially if you come in the weekend or after working hours, and wants to enjoy a good beer with some friends.
The menu is kind of super small and offer you only 3 to 4 kinds of food, which includes 4 different kinds of tortillas, and a veracity of 10 diferentes kinds of beers and other drinks.
The prices are reasonables and in the standard of a bar in Madrid.
If you stay in the center of the city, you can reach this place after a nice walking by the palace all the way to the neighborhood of LA Latina. It's magical to do it...
Read moreOverrated tapas bar which specializes in tortilla de patata aka the Spanish omelet. I was expecting great things from Pez Tortilla given the reviews and how people I know had talked it up but the tortilla disappointed me. I ordered the tortilla brie trufado con jamón, I found it average, and it was served at room temperature...they don't warm up their tortillas. My friend ordered the classic tortilla with onion, which I sampled, and was good but not great...I must say the croquetas were excellent which is why I gave this shop 3 stars instead of less. There are so many great tapas bars in Madrid and great places to get a hot tortilla, I'd have a hard time recommending Pez...
