I had breakfast twice at Habanera in Madrid, and it was such a lovely experience. The interior design is absolutely stunning – chic, vibrant, and full of personality. The space feels like a mix between a tropical oasis and a modern retreat, with lush greenery, elegant furniture, and warm lighting that makes it feel both luxurious and cozy. It’s the kind of place where you want to linger just to soak in the atmosphere. The food was just as delightful. Everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented – perfect for starting the day right. The menu has a nice balance of classic options and creative dishes, so there’s something for everyone. The staff were warm and welcoming, striking the perfect balance between friendly and professional. They made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Habanera is more than just a breakfast spot; it’s a place where the design, food, and service come together to create a special moment. If you’re in Madrid, it’s worth visiting not just for the food, but for the stunning setting alone. It’s a feast for both the eyes and the palate!

This place is rated top 10 most instagramble spots for a reason. You walk in and get teleported to a Cuban oasis. Feels like you just walked into an Old Havana place. The food is phenomenal. Some dishes may be a bit pricey but the flavors and presentation will not have you second guess your choices. Their Tapas are a mix of bread, meats and smaller bread items. All are very tasty and only worth a couple bucks. I ordered there tacos to start off. I didn't know they had shrimp but wow the flavor was and the tortillas were such a good choice. I also decided to order an additional entrée. The next choice was there Ropa Vieja and if your thinking of a dish to try do this one. It's a very simple dish but that is what makes it taste so good. As for drinks I got to try the Madrid al Ciejo. It has a spicy kick but mellows out with a sweet aftertaste. Now for the review. The decor and music this place offers is very unique making it a top choice to go to when in Madrid. All of this together I would give this place a 9.6 out of 10 on that 🔥 scale.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

We initially wanted to book a table for 4 at Perrachica, but they told us it was full and suggested Habanera (I guess it’s the same group). Worst decision ever. I have never seen such bad restaurant service before.

The plates never arrived at the same time, they forgot to bring the bottle of wine (we got it after 10 minutes after the main course arrived so our food basically became cold), they took out plates while others were still eating, there were different waiters with different roles and the ones that took orders never came to see us… when we were half way through our main course, we wanted to order a second bottle of wine and the waiter told us no and that we had to leave in 5 minutes. We arrived at 21:15 and it was 22:30 when he told us this. We were shocked as we still haven’t even finished our main course let along had our dessert (it was my best friends birthday by the way). Apparently there was a miscommunication on his side and we had the table until 23:15. But it didn’t matter anymore because it took 35 minutes to understand why the waiter was basically throwing us out (this is really how it felt).

From that point on, it just went even more downhill: we wanted to leave because all of this was inadmissible. Managers came to see us (communication was veeeery limited in english on their side) but nothing they could say would make us stay, we really wanted to leave and quickly.

To terminate this one of a kind, incredibly awful experience, when we got up, they told us that we needed to wait at our table to receive the bill. We waited for 10 minutes or even longer. At this point I don’t even know how long we waited anymore. We honestly should have left without even paying as the service was non existent and the waiters / managers were rude. We paid a total of 205€ (= 51,25€/person) and we didn’t even completely finish our meal - this is NOT acceptable. At this price (which is pretty expensive for Madrid) service should be a priority and clients shouldn’t be treated like this - a certain class is expected in return. Don’t get me wrong, you should have good service for even a cheaper restaurant but this one was really classy and the prices were high for Madrid standards.

I’m really unhappy and deceived because not only this completely ruined our night, but we also paid a fair high price for it. I will never come back and never will recommend this place to anyone. Fancy places that make millions per hour aren’t excused to have bad service only because it’s fancy. Prioritize humans, and a little bit less profit.

I’m putting 1 star only because the food was really good, before it became completely ruined by the...

Had a very bad experiene with the staff and service. We reserved a table for 50€ because they have special events on Thursday night. Our total bill was around 90€ between 4 people but in the end they forgot to bring 3 of our drinks which costed 30€ even after we reminded them multiple times and waited for an hour. They apologised and gave us coupons that can be used to get drinks for our next visit. Upon visiting again we showed them the coupons and they completely refused to take them into account and said the coupons does not belong to them and they can’t accept it. The waiter was simply rude and did not want to understand what happened before. After speaking with them for 30mins they finally accepted our coupons and gave us our drinks with a very unwelcoming service. We ignored and tried to enjoy our evening, we ordered food and more drinks. We were two at a table and asked them if two more friends can join us as the restriction is 4 people. They said yes of course but when our friends arrived the manager refused for them to sit with us and told us it’s about social distancing meanwhile a group of 6 was sitting right behind us and were not told to separate. We were quite frustrated by now and my friends who came all the way to meet us, left. By now we had enough of the rudeness and arrogance so we paid the bill which was asked to be paid using the QR they gave us. After paying the bill as we were heading out we were again rudely stopped by the waiter and he told us we are leaving without paying. We showed him the proof of payment and he still kept insisting for us to come back inside. We went back just to find out that another waiter had cleared our cheque already and there was no trouble. It is a shame that such service is ruining a great place with amazing ambience. Unfortunately we will never return back to this restaurant as we don’t want to be treated like this again. Upon speaking with many people everyone had similar opinions about the service and hospitality of...

I went with my family a Friday night around mid-February to celebrate our last night in Madrid together. As soon as we arrived, the waitress told us the table was only available for 2h which I completely understood since other guests were coming after us. Basically, our table was available from 9 to 11pm. Once we got settled, we started discussing and no more than 5 minutes later the waiter was already asking us for our drinks although we did not have time yet to look at the menu. We told him to give us 10 minutes to check. 3 minutes later he was back asking for cocktails but also our main dishes. During the whole dinner, the service was extremely oppressive. When we ordered mains, we realised the tuna tartar did not come with any side so we asked if they had small dishes we could add. It felt like every question we asked was a pain for them and they had no patience to answer. Finally, the desserts they were ok but I realised that they literally added to the total of our bill an item we had not ordered. It felt like they tried to rob us thinking we’re tourists and we’re only here to pay. Especially since all the items were very expensive for the size of the portions. I had to negotiate since the waiter kept on telling me my order was not clear, he did not understand that the item was not part of my choice. It was very hypocritical since he did not even bring at ANY POINT the item to the table. Overall, very disappointing restaurant especially since my research on it did not show this. I don’t recommend at all. They are several other restaurant much better with nicer waiters, where you can take your time and don’t feel like you have to rush your meal, and where they don’t try to rob you and make you pay items you...
