What a fantastic place to have lunch (if you are a fish lover!). Whether you are concerned with ambiance, service or food the place is top notch. Located in Madrid’s Barrio de Salamanca and very close to Serrano street (one of the moat sophisticated parts of the city) the restaurant belongs to Michelin starred chef Dani Garcia. And it shows. The restaurant is beautiful without being overloaded with decoration. And even the areas that are not in the proximity of a window and well lighted and nice. Service is outstanding. Professional and affable. Our waiter (Nelson) was one of these guys that takes a lunch a couple of notches up. Always with a smile and ready for an any need. And the food. Admittedly we did not taste a lot of stuff but after a Gilda appetizer (olive, anchovie, a green pepper) the tuna carpaccio is taken to a different level when you get three different cuts of tuna and are directed to eat in a particular order. You may like one cut more than another, but as an experience is one to try. Honestly, the cut I like the most was the tuna loin. The ventresca is also nice and I’m sure that on a grill will be outstanding, but for the carpaccio….give me the loin. Then we had the wild rodaballo (turbot) which was exquisite (admittedly in the north of spain you can find rodaballos on the grill that will top this one, but it was really good). With 3 glasses of Albariño, a bottle of water and 2 coffees 170 euros. Not cheap but an amazing location, top notch service, and good food are not for free.
