TLDR: Nice ambience, horrible food and service; I do not recommend.

The place was nice, although if you order from the Menú del Día, they sit you in a different spot from everyone else, my party and I were seated next to the door which was left open for the entire time we were there. This was no problem, however, after several of us asked for condiments for our food about 5 times, the waiters (each time) replied they would bring it, yet they never did. We asked waiters walking by, the bartender, and our waiter for the night as well, however none was ever brought. Secondly, the food was subpar. One person from our party ordered the Argentinian strip steak, which came medium rare - rare, which was no problem because that is how they liked it. Mine and another partygoer's steaks were purple inside and even after sending the food back TWICE the steak was not cooked to their liking. They ended up paying for a meal they did not eat (dessert included, the Flan there was atrocious)! Finally, our waiter came to the table only to drop off our food and never came to check up on us or anything of the sort. We simply wanted the check because we were fed up with the food and service, however after flagging down our waiter, he acknowledged us then proceeded to go to another table. That was fine, I understand that he had other tables. The kicker was when he chose to go outside and talk to people on the street instead of taking care of people who had called him over. Mind you, we were seated right next to the open door. We could see he was not busy and was chatting with people outside. We called over another waiter, told him we really needed the check because we were in a rush, and he went over to the other waiter who continued his conversation for several more minutes then chose to come in and ask what we needed. The check and dessert both took forever to come, although the check came first. We paid and it took our waiter over 10 mins to get change, and we were seriously contemplating leaving without the dessert because it took that long. Waste of time and money, although the place was visually appealing and the ambience was nice, the food and service were horrible; I do...

The worst experience at this restaurant. Start from entering the restaurant with the waitress who attended us. I assumed that she was lack of training and manners to work in a fine dining restaurant. when we asked for a table she just simply said wait here! so casual. while I was waiting for they prepared a table. I observed how they prepared the beer for customers the beer and foam were all over the glass and fell down on the side instead of cleaning the glass, they served to customers just like a street bar. when It comes to our dining experience, everything was like in a rush. rushed to talk, rushed to take order, rushed to server and rushed cooking. the food that my couple ordering was a beef steak, he ordered for medium well and surprisingly when it served, it was almost burnt from outside and in the middle was so red with blood, He tried to get attention of the waiter to check the food with him however nobody was pay attention and he had to step out from the to ask waiter to come. He waited on the table for sometime, the waiter still did not come to our table, he decided to start having it which he did not enjoy that much. Later when the waiter appeared, My couple made comments regarding about the attention that he received, there was no apology no offered to change or fix the dish which even show more how professional they were and the service that we received. A whole dining experience was not what we expected from this place, as they did not take feedback. I would not recommend this place as it...

Probably the poorest reflection of this type of restaurant that I have been too in a long time!

Firstly, the meat did not taste bad, but it was just average. But watching the sad/poor care for how the grill was handled really downgrades the cooking. The guy had little to no pride in his work! And the worst chimichurri - used balsamic or sweet vinegar making it inedible!

The asparagus was so badly overcooked, it was inedible! This really showed the lack of care for the food! The only decent thing was the fries…not really papas, just strong fries!

But the real issue with how dirty things are in the kitchen, the bar, and more! I am guessing there are no real health inspections happening here!

The topper, the bartender was combining at least 4 different wines into one. Now, if that was going to be a sangria eventually, then ok….but it was pretty clear this is the practice for how they serve their wine. Sure, almost no one will know—but again, this shows pride in the work—and there...

Wow wow wow!!! We had the most incredible meal at Parilla El Gaucho. Service was flawless from start to finish. We had an amazing waiter (didn’t catch his name) who was so attentive. One member of our group is Gluten Free and they were so attentive and accommodating. She even said the GF bread was the best she ever had. They brought bread rolls to the table which were hot and delicious. The steaks (Ribeye and Striploin) were cooked to absolute perfection for everyone and melted in the mouth. I ordered the Patatas provenzal and I’m still thinking about them. We were recommended a delicious bottle of red wine. We managed to keep some room for desert and again they didn’t disappoint. Just as we were finishing they came out with some sort of Almond cake and lemon sorbets. So so good and lovely little touches. We could not get over the incredible value for money for such a quality experience. We could not recommend Parilla El Gaucho enough. I’ll definitely be back during my next trip to Madrid.

El Gaucho is located right on Gran Vía, a very touristy area in Madrid, and you can feel that in both the service and the atmosphere. The place itself is fine, but the service is definitely not at the level you’d expect for the prices they charge. The staff wasn’t very attentive, and service was quite slow — a couple of times we even had to get up and look for a waiter because no one came to the table. The food quality was okay, but again, not what I expected for the price. I ordered a Milanesa Napolitana (veal escalope with ham and mozzarella). At €27, it wasn’t the best one I’ve had — though I know that’s subjective. As a side, we ordered fries, but they came undercooked and hard. We asked if they could fry them a bit more, but the waitress didn’t seem very willing to do so. On the positive side, the empanadas we had as a starter were tasty, and overall the food wasn’t bad. Still, for the price and the overall experience, I don’t think I would come back.
