I travelled here with my family (10 month old, 4 yr old and wife)||The reviews on TripAdvisor were good so we booked this place directly on MH’s website for 5 days (aug 24-29) ||Upon arrival we were greeted and given our keys right away. Apartment 46, 4th floor facing the side street. 2 bedroom 2 bath.||Positives:|1. No issues with noise from the busy streets below. |2. Spacious.|3. Location is central, but not the nicest. So you can literally walk anywhere from here. You can also grab a taxi outside the apt in seconds.|4. Nespresso machine with free pods at arrival. If you opt in for cleaning, they replenish the pods, otherwise you can go downstairs and there are many coffee shops nearby. |5. Supermarket underneath the building|6. Responsive personnel |7. Washing machine (no dryer but hanging rack offered)|8. Good wifi speed ||Negatives: |1. At check in, the Apartament was not cleaned well, hair and dirt on the floor and in the bathrooms. It was bad enough so that the next day they cleaned our place free of charge. They don’t offer cleaning free of charge so we opted into paying for cleaning everyday (45€ per day)|2. Both bathroom sinks were clogged so we had to ask for them to be fixed.|3. The apt shows wear and tear. The baseboards and walls are damaged or patched up by amateur handyman. |4. The area doesn’t seem safe at night. This is central Madrid, so it’s busy and the crowd outside the apartment can be at times sketchy. |5. If you don’t opt in for daily cleaning and you have trash, you have to take it out and dump it in the nearby square. |6. At the time of this review there are constructions right in front of the entrance ||After the first night here, I really wanted to get my family out but they wouldn’t reimburse us for the remainder of the trip because they were willing to clean the apt once for free and would unclog our sinks. First impressions is everything, I shouldn’t have to deal with a dirty place and clogged sinks. I am not sure how this place has such a high rating. Maybe I expected too much after reading the reviews ||Bottom line, if cleanliness is a must for you and your family then don’t go here. We will not be returning here . If you’re not a neat freak and don’t care so much for cleanliness and aesthetics , then this place offers great value for the...
Read moreChecking in after hours is self service, via a machine that looks like an ATM. I had difficulties checking in because the machine didn’t recognize my credit card, which I’ve been using just fine in France previously. I called the front desk and they sent me a link via email to complete my payment and override that step in the check in. Afterwards, we were able to receive our room keys.
The apartment itself is very spacious. The shower and bathroom were large and the beds were comfortable. We were able to use the washing machine, which was the reason for choosing this space, and hang our clothes on the drying rack overnight. However this particular apartment had only 2 outlets, in the kitchen and living room. So don’t expect to charge your phone near the bed. In addition, the hallway smelled like sewage, which is uncomfortable to smell while passing by. But once inside the apartment, the smell is gone.
The location itself is central to many things. You can walk to many places, like the Plaza Mayor and the Market in 7 minutes. There is a subway and bus stop in front of the apartment as well. You are also able to use the bus stop as an uber pick up or drop off recognizable in the app.
One inconvenience is all the construction that is happening in front of the apartment. The walkways are uneven getting to the apartment structure, so be wary of wheelchair/stroller access. However, I did like that there was a 24/7 grocery store next door. Nice for grabbing water, drinks, food, or basic necessities.
Overall, we enjoyed our first stay in Madrid and being able to walk and use public transit to main tourist attractions, with the added benefit of having a washing machine for...
Read moreI arrived on September 10 around 4:00pm and directly checked in. They gave me the room and I went there. When I reached the room there was a guy “fixing something in the room” I freaked out and shot the door because I thought there was another guest. Regardless, when I went in I saw that the bathroom is specialized for handicaps. The sink was low and the shower had a seat specialized for certain needs. Therefore, I went to the reception and asked her to give me another room which has a bathroom that is different. At first I was calm and settled but the receptionist was very disrespectful and rude. Her attitude and voice tone were very aggressive. I asked her to find me another room and she said “it’s not my job and it’s not my responsibility”. Therefore, I asked her to call me the manager and she said “he’s busy right now”. This kept going on back and forth for around 30 minutes until she found me a nearby apartment for a higher price. Prior to that she asked me “to go out and find a hotel by myself”. Nonetheless, it doesn’t matter who was responsible for this situation or who was wrong. The receptionist should’ve been at least more professional and respectful. I don’t recommend it at all. These people don’t know how to do their job properly. If there was lower than one star I would’ve given them. But for the location only I would give one star. For the location it was in the...
