El Gastrobar — Restaurant in Valencia

Came here for drinks as the place opposite was very busy and rowdy and we wanted wine rather than beer. You have to scan a QR code to access the menu but I found the website very difficult to use as it kept opening a new tab every time you clicked on something and you had to click to view anything. But they didn't have paper menus. I got so frustrated with the website I gave up. I asked for wine recommendations but the options were quite limited. I tried 2 white wines and a red one and found them all boring and bland. They lacked flavour and depth and didn't develop in the mouth. We ended up ordering a cheese board as well. It was fine but I found the cheeses rather bland and too similar. We looked at the menu for dinner but decided to move on elsewhere. Wow what a bad bad experience this was. I was meeting here with a fee friends for lunch. So the waitress was nice and we got our drinks pretty fast. We ordered stuff from the daily menu so should be pretty simple and easy right?! Well we waited one hour for first dish to arrive! I asked if everything was ok with the order?! As cook was not cooking he was in the kitchen taking pictures of something with his phone or whatever. And what arrived was awful awful food, we managed to eat primero as we were very hungry and it was only artichoke with egg and ham. But segundo was inedible, we just tasted it and left it on the plate. To add that other customers were also visibly upset with the service and irritated with waiting for such a long time. Positive points: it was opened for lunch before 13:30, which in Spain is not taken for granted. One of the attendants were very nice and understood/spoke some English. The food was good. We found place indoor but it was a rainy day and soon it would have no more place. Negative points: one of the staff was not so friendly, made no effort to help us with the menu and just throw stuff on the table in a fast and rude way. This type of stuff I usually understand, as people sometimes have bad days. The place inside is very small.
