This review is for the "Korean" tasting menu. The best dishes were at the beginning (starters) and end (dessert). The middle dishes were mosty uneven.
The daikon, kimchi, and potato salad starters were all delicious, although kimchi is something that you eat as accompaniment to other foods and I wish that it had been available later in the tasting menu as well. The chicken wings were instantly forgettable. Chicken wings should fall off the bone like Korean fried chicken, no? The sauce was tasty, but the chicken meat itself was tough. My dining companion made such a mess with his hands attempting to eat this that the provided wet towel was not enough - he had to run to the bathroom to wash his hands. The jjajangmyeon was tasty, but this is an example of a dish where a side of kimchi would have elevated the dish. I felt that the fried egg was misplaced, as it would've been better with the kimchi fried rice later. The broth of the Busan style soup was so salty that it was almost inedible. The fish balls were strangely tasteless, as if all the flavor had been leeched out of the seafood. I get what they are going for here - it's like a eomuk (oden)/fish cake style soup, famous in Busan, but they missed the mark so much that I wondered if they had ever tried the original? The bulgogi with kimchi fried rice was good, but the beef was a large piece of tough meat. For bulgogi, a tough piece of meat is sliced thinly and then marinated, because it's a better way to eat an otherwise rubbery piece of meat. The dessert of shaved ice, adzuki beans, and coconut ice cream was delicious and a great end to the tasting menu.
Overall, I applaud the restaurant for attempting to create a Korean tasting menu, something you don't see often in Valencia. I think this is a commendable start, with a lot of potential , but there's also room for...
Read moreThis restaurant is in the Mercado de Colon in Valencia. This was my partner and I first visit to this restaurant and first trying Burmese food. The food was delightful, we had a sharing platter (this gave you 7 courses), there was the option of a 5 course shafting platter but we opted for the 7. The portions are not excessively big but each course big enough for 2, so it gave you a taste of some of the things they have on their menu. Obviously you can just have choices from their main menu if you cannot face a 5 or 7 course menu. We had a glass of red wine each which I must admit was a very small so didn't equate to a GLASS, this was extra as was the bottle of water we had which was the size of a coca cola bottle and not worth the 2 euros 50 they charged. All in all it was a lovely experience and I would go to a Burmese restaurant again it wasn't a cheap meal, but we did have the sharing platter and as I said you you can choose off the main menu. If you are in Valencia and are in that area and love experimenting with food from different cultures, this place is...
Read more2 star only, why ? My wife left so hungry that she had to cook herself a plate at home... It started great, the mocktail was ok, the pork bao was delicious and then came the two mains. The duck was good, even tho very basic plate, but the rib... (the one and only rib cause dont expect 2 in your plate), on the top of rice bathing in soja, so salty it was literraly inedible, what to do in this situation ? We are discreet.. send the plate back ? Complain.. we chose to end our meal here without taking dessert , inform them about the salt problem and left after nothing was proposed to us.
The service was nice, specially with our 1.5yo daughter even tho a lot of wait between each plate for only 10people in the restaurant. Disapointed to not have been offered compensation for a plate that couldn't be eaten...
Conclusion : overpriced place that left us a very salty taste in mouth for a 75€ bill. I wont recommend...
