This place was recommended to us by hotel.
We ordered steamed mussels, grilled squid and seafood paella. The squid was nice as starter, but the mussels was so SALTY!
We asked the waiter and got explaination that they never add salt when cooking mussels. This was all "natural"! We cook mussels regularly and ofcourse don't add any salt. But this feels like pushing customers to order more drinks ( tactic used by cheap restaurants.
The paella was little too salt, rice under cooked and not much seafood for portion for 2 person.
Half way into the paella, my partner pointed out a big COCKROACH in the corner next to our table. He was trying to crawl up the wall. I took out my camera , but was too slow to get clear shot, but can still see it on photo. When I showed picture to manager, he said"thank you for telling me , I go look for it ." Like I lost my pet and need help looking for it.
We lost our appetite from this moment.
The other waitress came to the table and gave us a lecture that this is Spain and with warm climate, it's completely normal seeing cockroach running up wall and customer legs. I told her that I am not looking for any reason nor arguments. The appetite and our evening is ruined. No apology, free lecture and €80 for salty food and cockroach.
Very unfortunate, we were looking forward to this meal. Started as fine dining , ended like fish market place with like minded attitude,...
Read moreTERRIBLE SERVICE My family and I had a dinner reservation at this restaurant at 9:30pm for outdoor dinning. We arrived around 9:20 and the maitre d' just point us to our table and we sat there for more than 20 minutes before we received the QR menu code. Not offered a glass water with temperature in the high 90's. We were left alone for another 20 min before we got up and leave. We flagged the maitre D over and asked why we were ignored when all other customers arrived later than us finished their appetizers. His answer were, YOU ARRIVED EARLIY AND he will take our order now. Not a word of apologies. It was 10:30pm when we left and scrambling to look for a quick bite somewhere and missed the last metro of the night. Someone recommended this restaurant to us and it's a shame this restaurant treats non locals differently. It was hot and we were not looking our best with all day touring the city. Other customers who arrived after we did were served/finished their appetizers. If you're a POC and American, be warned. You will not be treated with basic adequate service like being provided a glass of water and will have others served before you. Hard to believe this still goes on in 2022 but at Raco Del Turia it...
Read moreTruly an absolutely wonderful experience dining here! We started with the jambon and the cheese plater (which came with a description card for each cheese). We ordered the Pinot noir Bassus ‘19 which was very good. I would also like to point out the very attentive service we received from Carmen. She poured the wine taste to not just my father but to me too (young women) which I truly appreciated! She was very attentive to our table through out our entire dinner (refilling our glasses, getting us new silver wear, giving us more bread before we run out, friendliness….). I would say all these contributes to our amazing dining experience. We then had the Paella de Valenciana which was very generous. We enjoyed it and even had some to give to someone without a home. For desert we had 3 different gelatos and camomile tea which came with truffle chocolate (very good!). Atmosphere is very nice, beautiful art pieces from Gonzalez Alacreu hanging on the walls, candles, wood floors, all in all can’t wait to come back and try new items from the food...
