French-Swedish fusion food, good service - but go for mains.
French style restaurant in the heart of the main train station, but does not feel like a transit stop, but more like a secluded restaurant. I was there with a group of 4.
It was a shame that no starters offered sharing, which resulted in us skipping them, as our priority was mains/desserts. The wine list was extensive, but none of us wanted wine. The server knew the beers to give a recommendation, which was good, but beer selection was a little small.
The mains were very good. I ordered the smoked salmon salad and cannot fault it - good ratio and fresh ingrediences. The herring salad was also a good combo with the salmon. The others at the table ordered a shared meat dish which they were very satisfied with. They were also offered more potatoes and sauce.
Despite it being the first tarte tatin I had tried, unfortunately for the restaurant I had done prior research. The pastry is supposed to be hand made from flour and butter. It was obvious that they had purchased pre-made puff pastry instead. The filling is supposed to have calvados to separate flavour from a regular apple tarte, but here the filling was lacking in flavour. The chocolate mousse, however flavourful, seemed a little simple to me.
I would go back for the main courses and curiously...
Read moreI have been before and the food has always been nice, the drinks decent, the service passable, and the cost high (but to be expected for its central location). Tonight I went, and asked the waiter where to sit. I was given a seat and, when I didn't get a menu, went and asked for one inside. When myself and others in the party went to order, the new waiter was absolutely the rudest person I've ever met in hospitality. He told us we couldn't eat food at our table (we'd been told we could). He said we should have asked a waiter before trying to order (we did). He said we had to move (but offered no option for where or help in the process).
Overall, I know there aren't many options at the central station, but please,...
Read moreReally enjoyed. Am a fan and somewhat predisposed when it comes to European railway station restaurants. But Luzette delivered on all I want from such places. Good food - I had very different (for me) chanterelle mushroom soup, a perfect minute steak and also really enjoyed the tarte tatin. Good wines alongside and I liked being able to drift from the bar for pre-prandials to my table in the dining room and back to the bar for a digestive (they have a Poire Williams and barman Jacob, whom I've previously met in his Nordic Choice hotel days also made part of it into a cool cocktail for me). Service good and always that buzzing ambience you get from railway restaurants. Might squeeze in another visit...
