My wife and I were were in Basel for vacation. We checked Lowenzorn out because it had good reviews.
We went on a Saturday night around 7:30/8pm, and the restaurant was packed. A staff person asked if we had a reservation and I said no. A few minutes later the owner/head chef came by to speak to me and said they already committed their cheese fondue supplies to the evening, but if we wanted to eat a la carte without fondue they would be able to accommodate us.
My wife and I and our two small dogs sat at a shared table. We ordered: Beer pretzel Veal sausage with pretzel Pork sausage with potato rasti Fried Beef liver bites
The items came out at a reasonable pace given the place was busy. The sausages were flavorful. The pretzels weren't too hard.

We loved the choice on offer on the menu, as well as the friendly service (though it could occasionally be a bit tricky to catch the staff's attention). I ordered the Cordon Bleu and my partner the Schnitzel, both of which we loved, though we didn't care so much for the veggies that were served with the meat. Probably not to everyone's taste. Next time I'll ask first. But definitely a place to go back to on my next visit to Basel.

The courtyard itself has a great atmosphere but unfortunately the heaters couldn't really reach us so we left completely frozen (visited the place mid December). Also, unfortunately the service was quite average. We had to ask multiple times for the same additional item we ordered earlier and even though we were always promised that they'd check on it, we never got an update.
