Ramazzotti — Restaurant in Basel

DO NOT RECOMMEND. RUDE SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT DONT BOTHER RESPONDING TO COMPLAINTS.

I sent the restaurant a detailed email 6 days ago outlining the incredibly unprofessional service we received when we dined there on December 27th and they didn't even bother to reply with even a fake apology, hence the Google review.

We received incredibly unprofessional and rude service from the short, blond haired waitress, (and judging from other Google reviews, we are not the only ones who have received bad treatment from her) including comments like 'I can't read your mind', messing up the order by bringing our main courses less than 5 minutes after receiving our starters, and just a general tone as if our mere presence at the restaurant was bothering her.

Other than the mess up and sheer rude service, my sister unfortunately started having a horrible coughing fit at the table after our main courses, she was almost choking. She went to the bathroom to clear her throat but she was having difficulty breathing and coughing a lot. She drank all of the water at the table and then the waitress did come up and ask if she needed water, which she did. When we received the bill later, I was honestly horrified that we were charged for that water. I do understand she brought a bottle of mineral water but honestly, she could have brought just some tap water in a glass. My sister was having a nasty coughing/choking fit and the waitress took it as an opportunity to upsell water. I know you dont serve tap water normally but It is common decency of any human being to offer someone a glass of tap water when they are choking/coughing wildly! To me this was horrible on part of the waitress.

We paid the bill by splitting it in 2 directly. It was 416chf. My husband and I tipped in cash, as we always do. We tipped 40chf which is not quite 10% but honestly, more than she deserved for her attitude the entire meal. Then before we left, I went to the bathroom. I walked past the bar area to overhear our waitress complaining to another waitress about us "only tipping exactly 40chf". (I speak German also) She said something else but I didn't quite hear it and then she realised I was passing the bar and stopped talking. I came out of the bathroom and she looked at me knowing she had been overheard. This comment from her alone is the reason I emailed the restaurant in the first place and they couldn't even bother to respond. All of the other small mistakes and rude, unprofessional comments I could have let go but to then hear the waitress complain that we 'only left 40chf' was honestly completely unacceptable and beyond rude.

Beautifully charming Italian restaurant in the Old Town area of Basel. So pretty inside, very stylish. Good menu, reasonable prices. My husband had a pizza, he said it was very good, just the right size. I had a Chicken & mixed lettuce salad, it was amazing. It included shredded carrot, shredded radish and another shredded veg that I didn’t recognise, plus cherry tomatoes. Lovely salad dressing. Four pan-fried pieces of chicken breast, tasty. It was a very generous serving and the ingredients were very fresh. I also had a non-alcoholic spritz drink, it was very refreshing and had fresh cranberries in it. We were in the marketplatz and enjoying the good vibes inherent in the city when we decided to go for some italian food. We saw Ramazzotti and found its ambience inviting. However, the moment we went inside, the experience was not as we had expected. A pretty lady in blonde hair told us to get seated in a corner. However we chose to sit alongside street facing windows, which seemingly didn't go well with her. She was keeping a smiling face but her responses felt rude and as if she was not interested in attending to us, seemingly because our order size was not big emough or may be because we were not swiss. Later, some other attendant took the handover of our table from her while she started attending to a new group of customers.
