Impeccable service, our waiters were very nice, polite and helpful. None of them were Italian which is a bit strange, we thought it was authentic and this to me should ideally include the staff who serves you the meal. The place itself was quite stuffy, we had to choose between two small tables in a corner by the entrance door which was quite uncomfortable. We got offered a mini bruschetta, which is a nice gesture but if you have ever eaten a bruschetta in Italy you will know that it’s something completely different (see picture). We shared a starter which was very disappointing: the burrata with grilled vegetables where vegetables were completely tasteless. I have never been so disappointed with grilled vegetables before. The only nice thing was the burrata. Paying, 32 Swiss francs for that starter is extremely expensive. The Tagliata was good but the side dish consisted in one small potato and salad with two cherry tomatoes (see picture). The ricotta tortelloni were tasty, although the portion was a bit small. We paid 170 Swiss francs for two glasses of wine; one burrata as a starter and two mains. If the portions were all generous and delicious, it would be alright but it wasn’t the case, especially for the burrata starter. Compared to other high quality restaurants in the old town of Geneva we thought that the price versus quantity/quality was unequal. Considering the above mentioned, stick to pasta, because for the rest I unfortunately can’t...
Read moreWhile visiting Geneva, my husband and I decided to make a reservation at La Finestra, an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Geneva's Old Town. It was an absolute gem! We instantly fell in love with the place and knew we had to come back before our short stay came to an end.
The starters and mains were simply outstanding. The flavors of the food, paired with the delightful Italian wine and the heavenly dessert, were beyond words. I must say, I've never tasted pasta quite like this before. I opted for the Tagliarini Maison, and every bite was a pure delight. As for my husband, he couldn't get enough of the Vitello Tonnato. And the tiramisu for dessert? Oh, it was simply to die for.
Now, let me give you a little tip. Before dining at La Finestra, I highly recommend popping into Dynasty d La Finestra next door for some pre-dinner drinks. Trust me, it's the most charming and lovely bar you'll ever come across, with an impressive cocktail menu that will leave you wanting more.
And the service? Absolutely top-notch! The staff at La Finestra were not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was one to remember. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was absolutely dreamy and cozy, making it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner.

Read moreI was walking by La Finestra when an unfortunate incident occurred with one of their servers. My dog had left a small smudge on the street, which I had tried to clean up as best as I could. However, the server ran out and yelled at me, insisting that I clean it up properly and stating that my dog was not trained properly.
I was taken aback by the server's reaction, which was confrontational and accusatory. I understand the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and taking responsibility for my pet's behavior. However, the server's response was excessive and unwarranted.
It would have been much more appropriate if the server had approached me calmly and suggested a solution to the situation, rather than yelling and making baseless accusations. I ended up proposing using a water bucket to clean up the smudge, but I don't believe that was my responsibility as a passerby.
As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy by the staff at any restaurant. However, even as a non-customer walking by, I expect to be treated with a basic level of human decency. The server's behavior was completely unacceptable and I hope that La Finestra takes steps to ensure that their staff is trained to handle situations like this with more professionalism and tact...
