I visited La Bavaria (Lausanne) on Saturday, October 20, 2025 at around 9:00 PM. We ordered two beers and a charcuterie & cheese plate. When our waitress realised what we had ordered, she reacted with an unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional tone — telling us we had “taken a four-person table” and that such an order was “not acceptable,” even adding that next time we should “order something better.” This was said bluntly, in front of other guests, and created a very uncomfortable atmosphere. We had actually intended to order more after finishing, but instead we decided to leave and not even finish our drinks. The manager did apologize, which I acknowledge, but such behavior from a waitress is unacceptable and damaging to the reputation of a historic restaurant like La Bavaria. Unfortunately, the overall impression I was left with is that management seems to view customers more as credit cards and revenue sources than as guests to be respected, which is deeply...
Read moreThank you to the Bavaria team for the warm welcome at your charming restaurant!
First thing to notice: there weren't many people for a Friday evening at 7 p.m. The place is cozy, and you can feel the relaxing atmosphere in the air.
Because I wanted to experience a local Swiss dish, I opted for the Bavaria choucroute (43 CHF). I highly recommend pairing this delicious dish with a glass of Riesling wine (6 CHF). For those who like a bit more spice, a small pot of mustard sauce is available. The pre-sliced bread served alongside complements the choucroute perfectly!
(Note: If you order a dish, water is included. Otherwise, there is an additional charge.)
The coffee is the perfect touch to end your dinner.
The staff is professional, responsive, and takes the time to answer any questions.
I highly...
Read moreWhat a cute original place to grab a bite and enjoy a beverage and get transformed back 100 years ago. If you look around the interior, you know that neither chairs, tables or wall decor has changed. That original atmosphere hangs in the air and makes this place unique. The food is nice not great but works. The beef tartar is pretty exquisite but the mains fell short on delivering for my taste. The schnitzel was rather dry and the roast beef suffered from the same. For the roast beef, I suggest serving it with a bit of jus to give it a bit more flavor and keep it tender. The meat quality is nice but dry. For the schnitzel, use a thicker cut, don't mind it flat and change the breading you are using. Service was nice and friendly and again the setting and atmosphere out...
