News Flash, it’s been two years since my family had dinner here, outstanding!!!! (Today August 10, 2025) We were treated like family. Amazing food, service and my son had his 24th birthday dinner here, his choice. Our favorite place for a family dinner in Zermatt, try it, you will love it!
Fast seating for an early dinner. Food was excellent with good portions. Peace’s were responsible for Zermatt, and especially Christmas week. I had the Pork Knuckle, delicious! If you want still water, just ask for the pitcher of water. Server was excellent and the ornery stopped by each table to check in. I’ll eat here again. My sons all had good portions, they are big eaters. Bonus Limoncello shots at the end of the meal.
Meal/Second Visit: Hidden up a small alley and a short outside stone stairs is this secret gem of Italy, right in the heart of Zermatt. If you do not eat here, you have made a mistake on you stay in Zermatt.
It is not often that I return to a restaurant and write a second review. Tonight was the night, Christmas Day 2022. The first time was two days ago and the meal was amazing and very, very affordable for anywhere let alone a resort town. The first time my brother and sister-in-law did not come. They did tonight and agreed with the rest of the family that the food was amazing.
I went again, last minute and was able to get a table. Nino, the owner truly made us feel like family. Nino took care of us all, especially my mom. You can tell from the moment you arrive, that this restaurant was his heart and soul. He checked in several times and I could tell, he was so proud of every dish and was truly concerned that everything was done just the way you want it. He suggested all three courses of my meal, it was out of this world.
My boys, ages 17, 21 and 27 are all foodies, they love to eat and can be critical.
Chicken was savory and the best he ever had, according to my one son, the other loved the pizza and said it was amazing. My third son had the Pork Knuckle, that I had two days prior and said he loved it. My mom had the tomato soup and took her time to enjoy every spoonful. My wife had the garlic prowlers with Shafron risotto, and described it as an amazing delight.
I had the beef ravioli and the rack of lamb. Oh, my gosh, it was and explosion of flavor and cooked to perfection.
The staff was amazing and handled our party of eight like we were at home for Christmas dinner. Caring and thoughtful.
We will return for a third or more meals each meal is special, spectacular, savory. Do not miss this amazing restaurant, it made our Christmas merry, unique and unforgettable. Thank you to the entire staff at OSTERIA BELLA ITALIA, my family...
Read more• That’s a restaurant in Zermatt where you can try a nice Italian pizza! We had a good but forgettable experience, unfortunately. The service is lazy and not warm, no smiles, no recommendations, nothing special, just the basics.
• The location is good, on the main street in the village, near other restaurants, hotels, and stores. We went without a reservation and it was easy to find a table. The restaurant has ample space with plenty of tables. However, it was too hot inside; just because it's cold outside doesn't mean you have to let everyone swelter inside.
• We ordered two pizzas but one would have been enough; they are quite large and serve four slices per person. Unfortunately, no one advised us, so... we left food behind. The Margherita (23 CHF) and Prosciutto Parmesan (29.50 CHF) were okay, but nothing special; the flavors were average. The house Merlot wine (7 CHF) was also unimpressive and the Coke (5 CHF) was flat. [Prices from June/24]
The restaurant was disappointing for us. The food and the service really fell short of our expectations. Not a memorable experience on our trip!

Atmosphere: This restaurant sits above Zermatt's main street, creating a super busy yet surprisingly warm and cozy ambiance.
Service: The service at Bella Italia is impressively fast. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive.
Food: Both the pizza and pasta dishes were excellent. The four cheese pizza arrived quickly and boasted a perfectly floppy crust. The combination of cheeses was delightful, with the blue cheese offering a surprising but welcome twist. My girlfriend's spaghetti aglio olio peperoncino was a simple yet satisfying dish. The pasta was fresh, and the chili flakes provided a bit more spice than anticipated.
Recommendation: If you're looking for a quick and delicious Italian meal in a warm and cozy atmosphere, with great service, Bella Italia Zermatt is a great choice. Just be aware that the price point might be slightly higher than you'd expect...
