The Unique Post Hotel in Zermatt truly lives up to its name. What makes it special is its blend of rich historical heritage with a vibrant, modern twist—offering multiple bars and clubs within the property, all under one roof.
Zermatt itself is a dream destination where mornings are for breathtaking mountain adventures and evenings are for unwinding with good food, drinks, and comfort. This hotel complements the spirit of the city perfectly—an all-in-one haven where culture meets contemporary social life.
I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Mr. Martin, whose warm hospitality and deep passion for the hotel were truly inspiring. He gave us insights into the property’s history and his vision for the future. With an impressive background in the global industry, he personally showed us to our stunning duplex room with a breathtaking Matterhorn view. He also introduced us to the in-room bonfire heater—an elegant and innovative feature that added so much charm to our stay.
The team at the Unique Post Hotel deserves special mention. Joao, who picked us up from the station, was incredibly informative about the city and its routes. Mira gave us a warm welcome with Prosecco and a big smile, and Venya gave us a lovely tour around the hotel.
Rooms: We stayed in a two-floor duplex with panoramic views of the city and the majestic Matterhorn. The room was thoughtfully designed, with a balcony, a sky window above the bed for stargazing, and a cozy reading corner. One of the coolest features was a live-streaming TV view of the Matterhorn, which helped us plan our excursions based on real-time visibility. We also loved that the TV connected to our phones so we could play our own music. The spacious bathroom was clean and modern, offering everything we needed.
Food & Breakfast: The hotel serves delicious food and offers a fantastic breakfast selection. Every meal we had was fresh, well-prepared, and flavorful—perfect to fuel our days of exploring. The breakfast spread, in particular, stood out with a wide variety of high-quality options.
Location: The hotel is right in the heart of Zermatt, just a 5-minute walk from the train station. Its central location means you can enjoy scenic street views and soak in the atmosphere from the comfort of your room.
Pick-up Service: Once you arrive at the station, simply call the hotel, and their free shuttle will pick you up within 10 minutes—a smooth and thoughtful start to your stay.
Out of all the places we stayed during our honeymoon, this was by far our favorite. From the room to the people, the food, the atmosphere, and the experience—it was unforgettable. I would 100% recommend The Unique Post Hotel to anyone...
Read moreIt is really unfortunate that I have to leave this hotel a 1 Star Review.
But for $750 Aud a night (approx $500chf this is not a "Luxury hotel"..
The rooms are very nice, alittle small but cosy and look great.
The service so far everyone has been fairly friendly and everyone has been helpful.
Location is also very good as it is in the middle of the main strip, so very close to everything, but this is also abit of a negative aswell.
But..
The hotel offered to pickus up from the train terminal at our arrival time, everything was pre booked, we arrived and no vehicle came for us. We waited over 25 minutes before realising no one is coming so we called the hotel and they sent the driver to pick us up. Lots of other hotels had drivers coming and waiting for their guests to arrive, annoying but we understand mistakes happen.
The real deal breaker is the noise and heat.
We are sitting in our hotel at 2:49am and we cannot sleep. It has been a frustrating night. We also upgraded and paid for a better room. It is extremely hot in in our room, the heater has been off since our arrival at 4pm but the room keeps getting very warm, we try and open the windows for fresh air (no air-conditioning or fan) and it is unbearably loud downstairs, like people yelling and music absolutely blasting.
We spent 12 hours to get here and want to sleep and relax but we cannot. It is a shame because we are here for another night and are thinking of booking a different hotel but we would loose so much money.
We are from Australia and are only in Zermatt for 2 days so it was a very big deal for us to come here and we feel like we should have looked at the reviews before booking here.
If you want to come here to drink at the pub or bars downstairs and stay up late then I would recommend, but if you want to have luxury experience and have a nice rest i would highly recommend...
Read moreThis is a review of the great annual New Year's eve party sponsored by the Unique Hotel Post. The entire building inside and out was decorated with the theme "Welcome to the Jungle," to celebrate 2025, and it was evident hours and days had gone into the preparation.||||Sadly we did not reserve the dinner, as it was all sold out, but we would definitely book in advance for the future. Our party tickets cost 100 CHF per person, and were good from 11:30 AM until 5:00 AM (although we did not stay that late!). Upon arrival, each person was given a bracelet for entry. No drink costs were included.||||Inside was absolutely wonderful- green jungle vine and flower decor everywhere, multiple rooms of dancing on various floors, a fantastic live band, superb and energetic DJs, busy bars, tables and seating, and so many other special touches. The entire hotel was decorated for the party. The guests were widely international, and of different ages (no children), all dressed to party, some in sequins and heels, others in jungle themed outfits.||||We could go outside on the second floor balcony and see all the people milling in the streets, but we were very pleased to be inside in a more formal function.||||This was truly a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year in Zermatt, full of happiness, excitement, and joy, and LOTS of music and dancing. I would fly back to Zermatt for New Year's eve just to go to this party...
