Walliserhof
My family started staying here in 1958. It has always been family owned. Call direct to get the best pricing. This winter we stayed December 22-Jan. 1. The staff was great- Patricija, Thomas, and Maja were a wonderful help and always there to answer questions or give advice. Communication with the hotel was great, emails or phone the staff was always willing to help. The hotel is wonderful but the staff made the stay great. Update: we stayed again for 5 days this August, (2025) another fantastic stay!
The location is ideal, train, lifts, shops, restaurants, and grocery store all within a few blocks. Super convenient.
Hotel was always clean and the spa was a great surprise, a hidden gem. My family used is many times during our stay. From time to time there was some Wi-Fi outages, but it my understanding that is not unusual.
The rooms were all very spacious with good views of the street or the mountains. They also had weighted blankets that made sleeping wonderful.
The family that own the hotel and restaurant take great pride in their ownership and the employees all have a fantastic work ethic. A father and son manage the hotel and run a tight ship.
Breakfast was always good with fresh fruit and an amazing coffee machine that can make any type of coffee beverage you like along with hot chocolate and tea. Fresh fruits and meats along with a variety of eggs and sausage, bacon and a breads. We always left full and ready for the day.
I will return again to Zermatt and again, if not camping, stay at the Walliserhof. It’s without hesitation I would highly suggest booking here when in Zermatt.
The food was wonderful too. We had the cheese, chocolate and New Year’s Eve fondue and ate several times here. Never a bad meal. See...

Our stay at this hotel was a complete disaster because of the staff. While the room itself was just okay with a low ceiling, the rudeness of the employees ruined our experience.
The hotel manager who is a man in the evening was shockingly rude easily the worst hospitality experience we’ve ever had. When we politely asked the receptionist for boiling water to drink, he jumped out of an inside room and aggressively declared, “We don’t have a kettle.” When we then asked if they could boil water on a stove, his response? “We don’t have a stove. We don’t use anything.” His tone was outright disrespectful.
At this point, we were genuinely confused how does a hotel cook food if they have no stove? Instead of answering, he abruptly shut us down with, “It’s okay, bye. I told you everything. Now go.” His arrogance and dismissive attitude made it clear that guest comfort and basic hospitality mean nothing to this hotel.
Honestly, I don’t know if this guy was frustrated with his life but guests shouldn’t suffer from that.
If you value respect, professionalism, and basic courtesy, DO NOT STAY HERE. Every single staff member we interacted with was rude, making us feel completely unwelcome. This was our first disappointment in Switzerland and we regret choosing this hotel. To the management: If you don’t want bad reviews, start treating your guests with respect. You’re in the hospitality industry -...
Read moreWe found the Hotel Walliseroff Zermatt while looking through options on Booking.com and it appeared to have everything we sought, particularly a convenient location that was easy to find and ratings that indicated a clean, comfortable spot to stay for our two nights in Zermatt. Both were true, but we were also rewarded with one of the friendliest front desk associates from our time in Switzerland - thank you, Maja! - along with a scrumptious breakfast buffet in the morning and accommodations that appeared antiquated because of memorable decor but were actually pretty modernized (there were “updates” we hadn’t seen at other spots, especially in the bathroom, which had a pocket door and a vessel sink.)||We relish a room with a terrace, and that of #34 looks out over a neighboring rooftop. The room was clean and simply furnished with a chair, desk and another chair, and an area in the entry to hang a few items and place one’s luggage. It even had a mini-fridge.||The twin beds, pushed pretty closely to each other, were comfortable. Wallpaper and black and white prints harkening back to an earlier time in town gave the room a warm, welcoming feel. One notable characteristic: the ceilings were quite low. I’m around 5’4” tall and could reach up and touch it. ||We dined one night at the hotel’s restaurant called Theodors Stuba, which was always packed...
