Without a doubt, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve ever encountered — an embarrassment both to the culinary profession and to the name of Italian cuisine. The restaurant presents itself under the Italian label, yet what is served could not be further from it. The carbonara — one of the simplest and most iconic dishes of Italian gastronomy — was nothing short of a disgrace. Tasteless, watery, and utterly lacking in authenticity, it was an insult to anyone with the slightest knowledge of food. Charging 25 francs for such a disastrous plate is not only unjustifiable — it borders on daylight robbery. What makes this experience even more unacceptable is the complete lack of transparency. Being asked what type of pasta we preferred, only to discover later that this “choice” came with an extra charge without any prior mention, is a textbook example of dishonest and classless service. This type of practice shows nothing but a deliberate attempt to milk customers without the slightest respect for hospitality. The rest of the dishes were no better — the chicken breast and vegetables came in laughable portions, with absolutely no care for presentation or quality, yet priced at 33 francs. In a place like Zermatt, where prices are naturally higher, one would expect to pay for quality — but what this restaurant delivers is overpriced mediocrity at its finest. It’s telling that management selectively replies only to the reviews they feel like, while ignoring those from guests who have experienced the true extent of their failure. This establishment is nothing more than a tourist trap, hiding behind the Italian name to justify outrageous prices without providing the bare minimum of quality or respect. If there is one piece of advice to give — remove the word Italian from your name, because what you serve is nothing more than a cheap imitation designed to exploit customers. What you are offering is not food — it is a shameful offense to anyone who appreciates cuisine.

I ordered in the restaurant twice. One takeaway to eat in our hotel and ordered a seafood pasta with a pizza. When arrived in hotel upon checking the pasta given was not seafood it was a vegetarian pasta which is far cheaper from what i paid and originally ordered seafood. Immediately rang the restaurant and got told to come back tomorrow and will be given the correct pasta for free and apologised for inconvenience as the kitchen was already closed if we come back same night. Think they gave me someone elses pasta as when he originally gave the food it was missing the pizza and had to remind i ordered the pasta with pizza as takeaway. Next day we went back to eat in the restaurant advised of the error from the night before, I ordered my seafood pasta which was amazing and another pizza. Bill came out and no compensation provided for the wrong order provided from the night before. Was asked to pay for the pasta and the pizza and the offer over the phone the night prior for their error was not honored. I dont like arguing bills specially in a restaurant hence just paid but left the restaurant feeling like we got scammed. If we knew they werent going to honour their word we wouldnt have bothered going back. After paying the bill they gave us a small plate of tiramisu 😅. The seafood pasta was amazing, just the service and their mix up is what ruined it as after a long day of hike i was looking forward to it just to be given a vegetarian pasta which was not filling for me.

Food tasted good. Nothing outstanding, especially for the high price. The Menu is not designed for a family and very confusing. No English on the menu, not great considering most tourists speak English. Service was very slow. Bread was burned, pizza was burned, no tap water to serve. Apparently, it is against company policy to serve a picture of water. They brought out still water and sparkling water in tiny cravats. I asked if he could bring the entire bottle of still water since we paid for it, and was told no… I wonder if they’re actually using tap and paying for bottled tap. Our glasses had food stuck to it from a previous user, and when we asked for a new glass, waiter told us we were wrong. It was a water stain. (See photo…) We asked three times over the period of 20 minutes to bring oil to dip for bread and butter and it was 25 minutes before we got it. It took almost 45 minutes for the hors d’oeuvres to come out. Food for the price was not a good deal. We had eight people and not one commented positively on the food or the service. Disappointed! I would not eat here again.

Well what can I say.....Im speechless! Never had such a bad experience in a restaurant. Visited here on my birthday 6th August with no reservation. Asked for a table for 2 to be told by sourfaced waitress to go and look outside. No tables available outside and waitress had disappeared so decided to sit at big table only for waitress to rush over and tell us we can't sit there. She then proceeded to direct us to a table crushed in between other guests at this point we left feeling that customer service was poor. Read reviews on Trip Advisor and posted review (see RestaurantJourno dated 7th August) but after reading others giving good review decided to give it another go and booked a table with specific request for table on terrace. Told on phone this was done.

Should have gone with gut feeling from first visit.....arrived and shown to table it was raining and it was explained we couldnt sit at one table as rain leaking in through roof of terrace cover so sat at next table. Staff are not friendly and can be quite dismissive- no smiles! They got our starter order wrong so we had to wait another 15 minutes to get correct order. Main course arrived....husband complaining that rain splashing and asked if we wanted to move inside but as we'd asked for outside table we wanted to be there and splashes on legs not too bad but felt that we'd been given worst table outside despite requesting before arriving - got the feeling that staff not bothered. The place crams you in and its like being in a tin of sardines! What happened next is TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE! Waiters set the table next to us for any guests arriving to sit at despite being told a leaking roof above it. Next what resembled a waterfall happened between the gap of the roof cover flooding our table and food and soaking us. It was that bad numerous other guests turned round in amazement which was quite humiliating. Waiters arrived and I explained problem and that food was now inedible (and probably toxic due to bird fouling and other dirt that had been washed in off roof). No apology provided or offer to sort us out...very dismissive. I told the manager it was time to leave and as this was probably not the first time this situation had happened it was totally unacceptable! Very annoyed and didn't pay as evening had been ruined. Greedy, rude, arrogant place only there to take as much money as possible and provide appauling service. Don't go here unless you want your evening ruined and to pay a fortune for the experience. I'm going to complain to Molino head office and see whether swiss trading standards/association can pay...

A Culinary Escape in the Heart of Zermatt: Pizzeria Ristorante Molino

Pizzeria Ristorante Molino in Zermatt isn't just another restaurant; it's a culinary journey into the heart of Italian flavours, nestled in the stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity. The rustic charm of the interior, adorned with exposed stone and wooden beams, creates a cosy and inviting ambience.

But the true star of the show is the food. Molino offers a delightful blend of traditional Italian dishes, with a special focus on wood-fired pizzas. The dough, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, is cooked to perfection, boasting a crispy crust that gives way to a fluffy and airy interior. The toppings are generous and flavorful, ranging from classic Margherita to more adventurous options like the 'Molino Speciale' with spicy salami, artichokes, and mozzarella.

Beyond pizza, the menu features a tempting selection of pasta dishes, all prepared with the same dedication to quality and flavour. The 'Spaghetti alle Vongole' is a must-try, with succulent clams cooked in a rich white wine sauce.

The service at Molino is equally impressive. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and answering questions with genuine enthusiasm. They create a welcoming and personal experience, making you feel like a valued guest.

The wine list is extensive, showcasing a wide array of Italian wines, perfectly complementing the dishes on offer. Whether you're seeking a full-bodied red to accompany a steak or a crisp white to pair with your pizza, you'll find the perfect match at Molino.

Overall, Pizzeria Ristorante Molino is a culinary gem in Zermatt. It offers a delightful escape from the daily grind, providing exquisite food, exceptional service, and a truly authentic Italian experience.
