Sala of Tokyo is a culinary gem that has earned its place among the best restaurants in Tokyo. From the moment you step through the doors, you are transported into a world of elegance and sophistication. The décor is tasteful and understated, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for a romantic dinner, a business gathering, or a special occasion.
The service is impeccable. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have a memorable dining experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and can answer any questions you may have about the dishes.
The food is simply divine. The menu features a creative and innovative take on modern Japanese cuisine, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients are of the highest quality, and the dishes are prepared with meticulous attention to detail.
I started with the tuna and avocado tartare with crispy rice crackers. The tartare was fresh and flavorful, and the crispy rice crackers added a nice textural contrast. The tuna was of the highest quality, and the avocado added a creamy richness. The rice crackers were perfectly crispy and provided a delightful crunch.
For my main course, I had the black cod with miso and yuzu. The cod was cooked to perfection, and the miso and yuzu sauce was a delicious accompaniment. The cod was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the miso and yuzu sauce was both sweet and savory. The accompanying vegetables were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and they added a touch of lightness to the dish.
For dessert, I had the matcha lava cake with green tea ice cream. The lava cake was rich and decadent, with a molten center that oozed out when I cut into it. The matcha lava cake was rich and chocolaty, and the matcha flavor was subtle but present. The green tea ice cream was the perfect way to cleanse the palate. The green tea ice cream was light and refreshing, and it helped to balance the richness of the lava cake.
Overall, I had an exceptional dining experience at Sala of Tokyo. The food was exquisite, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was elegant and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly...
Read moreThere are many places you can eat Sushi in Zurich, but few you are Japan so close like at the beginning of Schützengasse. Personally I am a fan of the new location and the pure design and the gentle lightning with the big cloud as an eye catcher.
Regrading food:Every part of our dinner was fantastic. From the 'amuse-gueule' to the cooked but still crispy Broccoli on a sesame sauce (we ordered both the same starter and had to share one as we luckily got the last one they had left that evening). Continuing with the sushi plate we compiled and were not disappointed by a single piece on our tables. And for desert two variations of ice cream you will find odd when hearing but reasonable when trying. But one also has to mention the classy service. Extremely friendly which was recognisable even the waitress and the owner had to wear masks all evening long. And they were also alert and attentive. Something one cannot outpoint enough in the service desert called Zurich.
Regarding the prizes, Sala of Tokyo surely matches what Zurich is known for: extremely expensive. So if you wanna eat out with a good bottle of wine you will end up easily with 150 to 200 CHF per person. But in my perception it is an event to go out to Sala of Tokyo you enjoy with all your senses - and not just having dinner.
UPDATE 9.6.2021: After the agony of the pandemic to go out first to this outstanding place again for dinner is a luxury gift and a revelation. They did not need time to wrap up: Food or lets call them rather culinary art works just as I knew and loved it and the perfection in service who remembered our last visit in an other life still recognising us and a stunning role model in professionalism and friendliness. Thank you for that experience...
Read moreThe quality of sushi/sashimi was slightly better than other sushi restaurants in Zürich. However, I am not sure its quality & quantity justifies its price. For instance, one piece of fatty tuna sushi was 15CHF and the size of it was too small for its price. The thing that upset me was mainly the service. There were three things happened within 2hours: 1. One staff had no clue about what she was serving. We asked about one sauce included in Tempura and she seemed having no clue (and no effort to find it out). She did not know how to hold/pour hot sake as well. 2. We found a little piece of ceramic in the house sake. It could have been very dangerous if we just drank it. For this, they gave us new Sake. 3. Misunderstanding on the order and the attitude that the staff showed us regarding this. This is really the last thing I wanted to experience if I am eating in the fine restaurant with paying 250CHF. If the service was correct, then maybe the price is okish, but based on what we experienced, it was definitely not pleasant. There was only one person who fit to this restaurant (I guess he was manager/owner), who apologized for the...
