Air's Kitchen and Cafe — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

This restaurant’s female owner is a racist and may have psychological issues. First of all, I’m a Chinese woman. I went her restaurant for brunch, and ordered 2 dishes. 1 of them is a Thai tea flavor smoothie bowl. But I found they gave me a mango flavor, so I asked the server why, the male server(from Myanmar) explained to me some reasons, even though I don’t think his reasons make sense but he really held a nice attitude and even brought up he would give me a Thai tea drink for free. I accepted… While eating my smoothie bowl, a white couple who seated in front of me just finished and that girl went to pay the bill, so left her bf sitting alone who facing me directly. I felt he rolled his eyes 3 times when had eye contact with me… I cannot believe that so I told myself if this happened the 4th time, I would go to him and tell him how his behavior influenced me…! That literally happened then. So I came to that guy and ‘educated’ him in a gentle way… However the woman owner interrupted us by telling me she had already changed a smoothie bowl for me( which I didn’t asked for but herself insisted in changing it) with a very indifferent face and telling that white guy ‘very welcome and thanks for eating at hers’ with a big smiling face… Then they left… That woman owner stared at me then and told me ‘what were u doing to my customer?’… I felt speechless and then told her it’s my business and also I’m ur customer as well…She became really mad and stared at me much harder which made me feel like her eyes almost dropped on the floor…At the same time she even wanna hit me and told me do u wanna call the police…I have nothing to be afraid of so I totally agreed.. well, then she didn’t call the police…and then she insisted in letting me out of her restaurant… she yelled at me and even pushed me, I was scared that time so I just have taken a 5 seconds’ short video of her absolutely rude behavior( I’ll attached it below)… when I was out of hers, I even dropped tears then I called the police, but unfortunately they cannot understand most of English… (I could imagine even they come I still cannot get a fair result and it’s meaningless to ask for apology from her coz I felt we really think in a different way). So i just seat on the step of hers for a while what gave me a little comfort in the end is the Myanmar server came to me and showed kindness to me and told me her boss literally always behaves like this for times.. So，Hope u know the facts and then decide whether to come here...

Update on the previous review: Since the first review, my husband I've coming to at this place multiple times. He gets the oatmeal, and I get the mango salad - both are delicious. Most of the time, his oatmeal comes out right when I'm finishing up my mango salad. That was okay because we weren't crunch for time and the food is delicious. We came back from our trip from the south end of Thailand and noticed that the restaurant was closed (maybe for a month?). Recently, it reopened, with the same touristy clienteles. We ordered our usual. We didn't see all of our usual staff but that's not unusual as there's a lot staff turnover. Surprisingly, the oatmeal came out - that has never happened. I waited patiently, I knew I was going to get my yummy mango salad. But, when my husband finished his oatmeal, I went up to the order counter and inquired about my mango salad. Apparently, the order was never given to the kitchen staff. Okay, no worries, I'll wait. I never did get my salad, opted to get our money back, because by this time, we needed to leave. As I looked back at the incident, I wonder if the owners changed. The usual staff that takes our order was a lot more friendlier. I still think the food is good hence the five stars. Service and atmosphere came down to three stars (average).

Edit 15 Jan 2024 Looking at reviews ,there is one from the women who put on a terrible display in this shop yesterday. She started by taking a really long time to order her food.I was behind her in the queue . She ate her food and then starting shouting at the staff about a staple in her food hurting her mouth.The staff lady was so concerned that she told her she would take her to the doctor at the shops expense.The shouting lady refused, insisting on her money back. I looked in her bowl when inhad a chance and saw that it was almost completely empty with some liquid and a few pieces of apple . The staff lady said they would make another bowl for her for free.Shouting lady said no,she wants her money back.Staff lady I think refused,then shouting lady must have accepted the free bowl,but it did not stop her ranting and raving. What a display of out of control behaviour.Very unpleasant. It was good to see many other customers comforting the staff lady and reassuring her that the food and service was top quality.Which it is,without fail every time I visit. I suspect that the other three one and two star reviews were from her companions,who all devoured all their food. What a shame that some people want to cause disruption wuth lies upon lies to try get free food.
