A great beach that needs much better management:
The reserved area is ridiculous, someone from the municipality must have been paid a lot to allow this to happen.
speedboats often drive too close to shore. It is dangerous, noisy and poluting air and water.
Too much plastic on the beach and in the water. More regular cleanup required.
Toilets should be free, otherwise people do their business in the water. It is not about money - it is about convenience. Most tourists do not have small change at hand
Prices for chairs are random and are not transparently advertised
Too many vendors walk around, bothering tourists. There is no reason to allow business to people selling junk...

MUST READ FOR ALL TOURISTS! There is chaos on the Kata beach. We have vacationed here many times, it was our favorite beach. And now they have placed paid sunbeds along the entire territory, along the entire length of the beach, in 5 ROWS!!! From the fence to the sea! This has never happened before. There is simply nowhere to lie down. In the evening, when the tide is in, the water reaches the first row of sunbeds and you have to walk between them or through the water. There is nowhere to even put your things. For those who do not want to pay 200 baht for sunbeds, they allocated a small piece of sand where jet skis are parked. But when the tide is in, there is water there. We are very upset when we arrived in the morning, our things were moved without permission to put a sunbed. When I made a remark to the employee, he rudely sent me away. He told me to go away and kicked my slippers 😭 it is simply outrageous! Last year, entrepreneurs were fined for illegal sun loungers, despite the fact that there weren't many of them. And this year, the entire beach is occupied by them and it suddenly became the norm. The city's free beach has become a complete business. How did this happen? Someone paid someone? And you can also be rude to tourists. We won't come to Kata Beach anymore. I'll try to write another letter to the beach and district administration.
Read moreA classy white-sand beach with crystal clear water, the beach curves gently and is fringed by hills on either side, making it a bay with calmer waters, protected from the ocean, and safe for swimming. The beach shelf slopes very gently into the sea, so it's possible to swim far from the coast. A variety of water sports are available - parasailing, banana boat ride, water scooters, and surfing. Boats also head out to diving and snorkeling sites offshore. There're vendors on the road close to the beach, and one can buy coconut water and a variety of juices, when famished. Beach umbrellas and beach chairs are available on easy terms and belongings are pretty safe, even if you prefer to plonk your clothes and bags on a piece of sand, and head straight...
