A disappointing experience at Kata Palm Resort.

The reception staff was unfriendly, especially the late shift – no professionalism or friendliness. Upon our arrival, we were rushed so much that after a 12-hour flight, we had to carry our luggage ourselves without any help.

We got a room that smelled old and musty, the bathroom was awful, and the hygiene was inadequate. The towels were also old and terrible.

We only had breakfast at the hotel – and it was a complete disaster. During the 9 days we stayed here, the bread was never fresh, and the cold cuts, cheese, and cakes were left out from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM without any cooling or refrigeration.

One evening, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. The chicken was so tough that it was impossible to cut or chew. For dessert, we ordered pancakes and received the same ones that had been made for breakfast – fresh in the morning, stale by the evening.

The pool was nice, but not very clean.

Additionally, we asked at the reception for a late check-out, and they told us it wasn’t possible because new guests were arriving. But suddenly, they said we could do it if we paid 300 Baht per hour. What a scam!

Another huge disappointment: The reception never informed us about our scheduled meeting with the travel representative. Only a few days after our arrival, we received a letter saying that we had missed the appointment – even though nobody ever told us about it!

Most staff were friendly and pool was nice, but that’s about it. I stayed in 2 rooms, one for a week and one for a night before my flight. There was such an overwhelming stench of mold in my first room that I had to buy air fresheners just to make it tolerable. After going out for a 12 hour tour one day, came back to a massive cockroach on my wall that 100% did not come from outside since no one came to clean my room ever despite me placing a “make up room” sign on my door for intervals of 3-4 hours daily and I kept the balcony door locked tight. There’s many cracks behind the bed more bugs could be hiding in - slept with lights on for remainder of my stay to try and keep them in hiding. Stains were all over the bedding in both rooms, one on the back of a pillow that was hardened and raised so I’m almost positive they don’t even change the sheets between guests. Disgusting. Wouldn’t allow late check out when I had an evening flight because they said someone else was checking in the next day… duh. It’s a hotel, of course more are coming to check in, but every other hotel in the world can figure it out to allow late checkouts so why can’t they? There was 15 to 20 groups of people waiting to check out at 12pm the next day which meant plenty of rooms available..: they didn’t even get through the line of people until close to 1pm anyway. Our family had a great time at the hotel . Not your a typical western hotel . It is very ethnic , gets you into the Thai vacation vibe immediately . Large Lobby with Oriental Thai elements and seating areas that reminds me old movies. The first room had an issue so they upgraded us to a better room without any discussion. We had Coy fish pool outside the balcony ! The staff was very efficient and helpful starting with the bell boy, the concierge, that was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable helped with advise and booking. The breakfast, restaurants and bars had a vast offering that was good for any stomach and they also had Calming music playing during breakfast . They offer spa and Thai cooking lessons in house , which could be good for rainy days . The several pool areas are peaceful , and private in some parts, they remain open when it rains (and also after hours as we noticed ) The location was very good . Very Close to Kata beach entrance and the Main Street. They have Parking and wifi .

The beds were not very comfortable There were a few areas on the lower level that had a bad smell possibly from the driveway behind, we understand it may have been the rainy season so I am sure this would be fixed . I would recommend this hotel to families, it is convenient and unique and we...
