We booked 11 nights at Chanalai Romantica Resort for our honeymoon in September 2025, based on the modern photos shown on Booking.com and the hotel’s own website. Sadly, the experience was nothing like what was advertised.||On arrival, our room was dirty, outdated, and unhygienic. There was cracked sealant, a rusting drain, and a filthy outdoor sofa. Most concerning, there was a strong smell of cannabis drifting into our room from the balcony. I explained that I have asthma and this was harmful to my health, but this was ignored by management. While we know cannabis is legal in Thailand, it is not permitted inside hotels, and yet nothing was done to address it.||The staff on duty genuinely tried to help us, and we want to acknowledge that. They spent much of the day assisting and even showed us alternatives at sister hotels. However, one of those rooms was directly opposite a building site, and staff at the property confirmed building works were due to start the next day, making it unsuitable. Staff at another property even empathised with us, saying they understood why the rooms were not appropriate for a honeymoon stay.||The real issue was the General Manager. We spent a good 45 minutes showing her all the evidence: the dirty balcony, rusting drain, cannabis smell, and the clear mismatch with the photos online. She eventually had to agree that the condition did not match the advertising. However, she initially denied being the GM, gave us her card and told us to “email the GM,” and only later admitted her role. Despite her acknowledgement, she still refused a full refund and only reimbursed unused extras.||By this point we were distressed, jet lagged from two days of travel, and did not want the experience to ruin our honeymoon. We made the decision to book the Melia Hotel out of pocket. The difference was immediate: a beautiful, modern room, exactly as pictured, and staff who treated us as honeymoon guests should be treated. We are grateful we left, but this hotel ruined the start of our honeymoon.||This experience ruined the start of our honeymoon. I would strongly advise travellers to check recent reviews carefully...
Read moreOur recent anniversary stay at Chanalai Romantica Resort was nothing short of extraordinary! From the very first moment of reservation until checkout, every interaction reflected genuine professionalism, warmth, and Thai hospitality at its finest.
The Pool Access Room was absolutely stunning — modern, spacious, spotlessly clean, and designed with such care that it felt like stepping into a private honeymoon suite. The team went above and beyond with thoughtful touches — from the floral bath and chocolate flowers to a personal note that made us feel truly special. 🌸🍫
Every member of the staff was genuinely kind, attentive, and accommodating, creating an atmosphere of comfort and joy throughout our stay. The property itself is beautifully maintained, with a serene and inviting pool area where we spent countless happy moments together.
I wish to sincerely thank the Team for the wonderful romantic set dinner experience we enjoyed in the evening. Every aspect of it was truly exceptional and left a lasting impression on us.
The food was superb, with each dish beautifully prepared, bursting with flavour, and presented with remarkable attention to detail. The presentation was exquisite, and the atmosphere was superb, creating the perfect romantic setting for a memorable evening.
A special note of gratitude goes to Khun Jacky, whose outstanding service made the experience even more memorable. His warm hospitality, professionalism, and attentiveness ensured that every moment was seamless and enjoyable. Such genuine care and dedication are rare, and Khun Jacky truly embodies the spirit of excellent Thai hospitality.
It’s rare to find a place that captures the perfect blend of elegance, romance, and heartfelt service — but Chanalai Romantica does it effortlessly. You simply cannot help but want to return!
I will mention a few notable examples of Chanalai hospitality team that shone; they are Khun Fia, Khun Jeab and Khun Yaya whom have lasting impact on our stay.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire Chanalai Romantica Team for making our anniversary unforgettable. We were truly...
Read moreA lovely ‘couples’ resort in the heart of Kata Beach area.
Staff & management are friendly, professional and responsive. They go out of their way to make your experience relaxed and enjoyable. Rooms are very nice but furniture could be replaced with modern more useable items (ie. nite stand with no drawers and slooped sides so everything falls off), a place to put your luggage would be nice instead of the floor. Cleaners did a fabulous job cleaning the rooms. Breakfast is very good - lots of options (egg station, Thai food, western food and fresh fruit). I like how they calculate food wastage each day and advertise it. The problem is guests go late to their breakfast then a taxi shows up for an excursion and they leave uneaten food behind. The restaurant grills meat and serves with fresh salad outside the hotel. They are delicious, fresh and inexpensive They did a lovely valentines dinner and spent days decorating and marketing the event. They even had live music which was fantastic (we heard it from our patio). Unfortunately, only 3 couples attended and I’m certain it was a massive revenue loss. If hear next year I would participate. Cocktails - lots of choices and flavours. There are 2 happy hours each day. Fresh juices however, very little alcohol can be tasted plus glasses are filled completely with ice leaving almost no room for the cocktail. Beer always a good choice. We loved the ‘couples’ romantic hotel (adults only inferred). The whole time we were there, a family with a 15 year old boy was in the pool. His throwing a ball around, playing hide-n-seek and splashing his dad non-stop, really killed the vibe. Everyone around the pool were frowning and rolling their eyes. This is no place for children. Pool access rooms are a highlight and worth the upgrade costs even though not that private. It would be nice if stationary patio...
