When I walked in, no other customers were there and some staff stared at me. I came in to work and while I eat as a lot of digital nomads do. To my surprise, I saw a sign that said no laptops are allowed on the tables.
I asked for clarity on this rule because I’m so accustomed to people like myself working in cafés… especially since I was the only one in there. They told me that they do not allow laptops on their tables. So then I asked, could I just work with my laptop on my lap? 🙃 They said yes, but only for 30 minutes lol.
Then a couple of minutes later, the same woman (I believe she was a manager) changed her mind and told me it’s fine if I put my laptop on the table.
The pancakes were the best part of my experience. They’re very light and fluffy. I ordered a passionfruit lemonade. But it was actually a passionfruit soda and it just tasted like seltzer water with passionfruit. I’ve had these flavored sodas around the island and this was the worst one I’ve had yet. I took a couple of sips, trying to stir it up, and hoped that maybe there was flavor that I was missing. Finally, I just told my waitress that I didn’t like it and requested a regular lemonade. She slightly rolled her eyes and said that I would have to pay for this one and order a new drink.
Now I have heard that this is common in Thailand for people to still make you pay for any food or drink, even if you don’t like it. And I get it. But it was the lack of customer service and attitude that I’m not used to in Phuket. I quickly ate my food, paid, and left. The service and energy were very weird there.
I also noticed that I was the only customer that they stared at upon entering. As a solo black traveler, that is not a good feeling. I noticed that when a white solo male traveler walked in they did not give him the same treatment. I live in the area, but I will never be back.
Update: the owner’s tacky response speaks to the lack of professionalism and understanding of other people’s experiences as it relates to race and culture. Good luck, especially since this is a...

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my taste buds are still in shock and deserve justice.
Stopped by Lost in Phuket for what I hoped would be a light but satisfying steak salad. What I received was a crime against cows and vegetables alike. The steak, if you can call it that, was a sad, grey mystery meat with the texture of a gym mat and the flavor profile of wet cardboard marinated in regret. I suspect it was grilled by someone with a lifelong vendetta against flavor.
The salad greens looked like they’d been picked reluctantly and possibly stepped on before reaching my plate. As for the dressing? It was either an accident or a social experiment. A strange, gloopy concoction that tasted like expired honey and despair.
Even the plating was depressing – a wilted mess that looked like it had lost the will to live halfway through the kitchen pass.
Service was fine, but even our waiter gave us a solemn nod when we ordered it, like he knew what was coming and felt too powerless to stop us.
In summary: Lost in Phuket? More like Lost in the Sauce — and the sauce should have stayed lost. Avoid the steak salad unless you’re conducting research on culinary disappointment.
But here’s the real kicker: after reading the other reviews, I noticed a disturbing pattern — the owner’s responses. Instead of taking feedback professionally, he lashes out like a toddler denied dessert. Rude, condescending, and downright insulting. Honestly, it’s shocking to see someone running a business with that level of arrogance and zero accountability.
If you enjoy being disappointed and insulted, this is the place for you. Otherwise, save your appetite and your dignity — Phuket has so many...
