Saffron Indian Restaurant – Overpriced & Disappointing
We ordered samosas, egg biryani, and papad. The restaurant is overpriced compared to other Indian places in Thailand, but since we were staying at the same hotel, we opted for convenience on the last day of our trip.
The samosas were undercooked. The biryani had decent flavor but didn’t really hit the taste buds — just an average, convenient meal.
The real shocker was the papad. We didn’t check the menu price beforehand. One portion had just 3 tiny papads (smaller than palm size). We ordered two portions in total, and they were pathetic in quality. I even told the manager while eating that the papad was terrible and they should consider changing the brand.
When the bill arrived, we were stunned — each portion of 3 tiny papads was 150 baht. That means we paid 300 baht + 10% service charge (INR 900) for papads I wouldn’t serve at home. For reference, an Indian lunch for two in Thailand usually costs around 500–600 baht and includes sabji, roti/naan, papad, rice, and dal. Here, our bill was 1,050 baht — and I left regretting the choice.

After my delightful experience with the Biriyani at Saffron Indian Restaurant in Sukhumvit 11, Bangkok, I couldn't resist returning to try their Prawn Biriyani. Once again, my taste buds were in for a treat!
The Prawn Biriyani was a symphony of flavors, with succulent prawns perfectly cooked and blended with fragrant rice and a rich mix of spices. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness that left me craving more. The spice levels were spot on, delivering just the right amount of heat to make the meal exciting without overwhelming the palate.
For anyone in Bangkok, I highly recommend visiting Saffron Indian Restaurant. Not only is it a fantastic Halal option, but the ambiance and service make every meal a wonderful experience. Don’t miss out on this gem if you’re...
Read moreReally disappointed with the restaurant, saw the 4.7 reviews and went there to try. Wouldn’t be going there again, there was a group having dinner and the restaurant seemed to only care about that group leaving the rest of solo/couples waiting for over half an hour to get one food item at a time. Coming to the food it was average at best, extremely overpriced for the taste. Would not recommend. There is no seating appropriate for solo/couples. All i saw were minimum of 4 chair tables, not a good idea to come here as a solo person. Last thing i wanna point out is the menu, there were three single one page menus and that too with no pictures at all. It was a nightmare maneuvering through the three to have an idea on how to order. This feature has a...
