I recently visited Hillary 2, and unfortunately, it was a very mixed experience. This place certainly has its target audience, but for me, the negatives outweighed the positives. Atmosphere & Crowd: The club was extremely busy, to put it mildly—it was completely overcrowded. If you're looking for a relaxed evening, this is definitely the wrong place. The sheer number of people makes it difficult to move, find a seat, or even have a conversation at a normal volume. The music was deafeningly loud, which is surely intended to create a party atmosphere but makes any form of communication impossible. It's the kind of place where you're constantly pushing through a crowd and getting bumped from all sides. The Service – Aggressive and Annoying: What bothered me the most was the overly aggressive service. You could barely take a sip of your drink before a waitress was at your table asking if you wanted to order another one. This happened every few minutes. Instead of feeling welcome, you feel under constant pressure to consume more. These frequent interruptions were extremely annoying and made it impossible to relax for even a moment. Less would have definitely been more. You get the distinct feeling that the only goal is to get as much money out of you as quickly as possible. Forced Drink Policy at the Entrance: An absolute no-go for me was the policy at the entrance. You are essentially forced to buy a drink immediately, even before you've had a chance to properly enter the club. There's no opportunity to look around first or wait for your friends to arrive. This practice feels like a mandatory cover charge disguised as an overpriced drink and leaves a sour taste from the very beginning. Value & Pool Table: For a casual evening or a good conversation, Hillary 2 is entirely unsuitable. The only purpose this place seems to serve is for getting drunk as loudly and quickly as possible. The drink prices are in the upper mid-range for Bangkok, which doesn't feel justified given the rest of the "experience." One small highlight was the pool table. At 20 Baht per game, the price is truly unbeatable. The only problem is that everyone else knows this too. Consequently, there's always a long queue. You have to be prepared to wait a significant amount of time just to get a chance to play. Conclusion: If all you're looking for is loud music, cheap-feeling drinks in large quantities, and a jam-packed dance floor, you might actually enjoy this place. For everyone else who values a minimum level of comfort, a relaxed atmosphere, and service that is attentive (but not pushy), there are countless better alternatives in Bangkok. For these reasons, I can only give it two stars one for the live music and one for the cheap price of a...
Read moreOn my recent solo stay in Bangkok, I popped into Hilary 2 at night, for a few drinks and to soak up the atmosphere. I sat at a table and was immediately joined by a Thai girl, who threw her arm around me, and asked for a drink. I told her I wasn’t interested in her and didn’t want to buy her a drink. She said fine, and came back with a drink, but as I was paying for my drinks with cash as I went along, I assumed she was doing the same thing. She had several drinks, and refused to leave my table, no matter how many times I told her I wasn’t interested in her. Eventually I ran out of cash, and told her I was going to leave, but brought my drink outside, to smoke a cigarette with it. I was then shown a bill by a member of staff of over 500 baht. When I asked what this was for, he told me the girl I was with said I was paying for her drinks. I told him I payed for my drinks all along, and had no cash left, and didn’t know the girl, but he insisted I pay by card, and when I looked inside, the girl was nowhere to be seen. At no point did the member of staff threathen me, but still said I had to pay, even though they had no right to allow a Thai girl to run up a bill for me, without me giving my consent first. I won’t be back to this bar again. I would also like to point out, that this bar is not a hostess bar. They don’t employ girls to drink with customers or to be barfined, which is why I thought it was safe to have a drink there, without being harassed for drinks or being scammed by the bar staff, as I visited the bar several times before without incident, as I’ve been visiting the area for...
Read moreI used to go here all the time. I love this place. The live Music is always good there’s always at least two bands performing. The music during break time is always good too. They Also have a pool table.
The only downside is that it’s always very packed and they bother you to pay for your drinks every time you order but I understand it’s because it’s very busy and hard to keep up but it’s such an inconvenience paying for drinks every time it’s ordered instead of waiting for one bill. It’s also very hard to get a table most nights unless you go early.
The lady at the door is very aggressive and she always tries to make you buy beer. I’m not a beer drinker and I drink gin and tonic but they want you to buy a beer to get in . She gets a cut so she’s very aggressive. You don’t have to do that to get in.
I stopped going there coz it became to busy. Lots of sexpats there, I’ve been asked how much several times😂😂😂
If you want to have a good time and enjoy live music then you should try it out if you don’t mind seeing a pile...
