UPDATE (Sept 13, 2020): My significant other (SO) and I had dinner here (as we have several times) but this was Sunday so I decided to try the Sunday Roast Lamb while my SO had the Thai Seafood Pasta. My plate came with roasted potatoes, carrots, and eggplant and every bite was delicious. Also, there were garden peas (heavenly) broccoli, and cauliflower. I generally avoid cauliflower because of a strong dislike holdover from childhood. Tonight, I decided to try it and I won't say it was delicious (probably because of the old bad memories) but it was okay and was actually tasty with a bit of the gravy on it. The star of the show was the lamb. It was perfectly medium rare and I savored every fork full.

My SO said that her meal also was excellent. We both were in the clean plate club for this meal.

I give this meal 5 out of 5 stars and up my overall rating from 4 to 5 stars. ORIGINAL POST: I've been here twice, the first time several years ago. At that visit I got their Bangers and Mash. I was impressed. I had lately been thinking about that earlier meal so a couple of nights ago I went back with my mouth all set for another plate of the Bangers and Mash. I wasn't disappointed. Three large and tasty banger sausages served with just the right amount of mashed potatoes swimming in a delicious brown onion gravy. I was expecting the traditional side of peas but instead the peas were in the gravy. It wasn't bad but I would have preferred the peas on the side so I could taste them. So, this is an update. Friday 15th November 2022. I went tonight with friends and ordered a Guiness. We were getting in to the routine, having a gab. I was asked after my 3rd beer if I wanted another. I said no. 15 minutes later another pint arrived. "Here's your pint." I didn't order it but I thought I'd drink it as it had been poured and at 270+ I thought it was to expensive to waste. I would have ordered a local larger, but hey ho!. I drank it and another arrived. Again, I didn't order it. I drank it. It's nearly Christmas, we're out with workmates. Hey ho. Upto 5 pints of the expensive black stuff now. We ordered the bill. I've been charged for 6 and not 5 pints (2 of witch I didn't order.) I pointed this out to staff and they suggested I may be a little 'drunk' and was possibly not aware of how many I had. Yeah. It was 5. So, they say I had 6. I say it was 5. 2 of them I didn't order. They brought them anyway. So I paid for an extra beer I clearly didn't have. I can't prove, they can't either. Obviously they could. So, my friend also had an additional beer he didn't order turn up and acknowledged I had 5 pints ( 2 of them that I didn't order. ). Result. I ain't going back. I'm not a niave tourist. I've lived here for 17 years and seen this place change hands and names several times, but it has been OK. Fool me once but you won't do it again. 25 Apr 24 Cottage Pie was Potato Pie. The smallest amount of beef mince I have ever seen. Mince did not fill the bottom of curved bowl. This is indeed the biggest rip off I have experienced. I eat regularly here but will never order the Cottage Pie again. 2nd time failure. Back to 3 stars. 15 Aug 23 - Good brekkie - Summer Granola for a change. Prompt, efficient staff. 8 Dec 22 - Good English breakfast - hit the right spot. Apr 22 Dinner last night and blreakfast this morning. Cottage Pie (Dinner) was OK but probably would not have it again. Filling was less than adequate and was served without any sides - even a slice of bread would have been nice. Breakfast was excellent. Three egg omelet with toast and tomato. Could not fault it - This is my place to go for breakfast. I would have rated this five stars if it had not been for the high pitched and loud banter between the cleaner and another female member of the staff. Very annoying.
