Kuppa's got a number of trophies and accolades to its name. Best Thai restaurant in Asia, Best Asian restaurant in the region according to some magazine. It is located on Sukhumvit Soi 16.
The hoisin duck pizza is well acclaimed although I don't like my meat sweet, but if you do, be sure to give it a try because it's really a unique mix of Asian toppings on a western dish. The grilled prawns come with a sauce that's so good when you spread it on your focaccia bread. You can choose your type of risotto rice as well. I think we chose the wild mushroom one which was fantastic. Lastly, the steak was super succulent - juicy to the last drop and of superb quality. I think it comes with barbecue sauce by default but you can ask for black pepper sauce which comes with so much pepper at the bottom it is nice and spicy.
It is a beautiful place with great ambience, dim lights and comfortable seats. The main door has a large dungeon-like shape made of thick wood, and makes for a nice entrance. The decor is homely and you could sit in there comfortably for hours. There is ample parking space and nice smoking spots outside. Good for a romantic dinner and great for meetings and groups.
Definitely a must-try and for once-in-a-while fine dining, Kuppa gives you the ultimate gastronomical experience along with a place...
Read moreGood homemade yoghurt with granola, french press coffee (original blend) and great fresh mint tea- so hard to find at Bangkok. This all for 5 star. But for other food - it's made with no idea, just huge pieces of ugly cuted vegetables- look like a prison food. Not luxury at all. And doesn't have any taste or any side sauce besides ketchup. Didn't even wanted to try espresso based coffee after saw which coffee machine they use - same one you can try on the street by sidewalk. Was surprised that they care about coffee bean quality but wont use La marzocco or at least Victoria Arduino one. Why should kill all coffee taste by cheap coffee machine? Waitress also trained for 2-3 star. Asked to cook food without onion due allergy- but food comes with lots of onion in there. And this place asked for extras service charge- with no service for it. Be careful. Cheap drinking water from the sink putted into branded bottles- overpriced. I'm ready to pay for good water but this is not respectful. Cheap bread- like from 7/11 shop. Don't think I would be back or suggest this place for friends. Who come here- just doesn't care about good quality meals. Can come and can eat, but...
Read moreKuppa Last time I was here was some 5 years ago for a dinner with colleagues - I remember it being a very nice place. They have turned and old warehouse into a very contemporary looking eatery (see my pic). Wanted to check it out for breakfast this weekend. Two people with coffee and and Eggs Benedict each and splitted an order of pancake and we were staring at a bill of close to 1300 bhat (~$40). Pricey ? I very much think so. Service is decent, ambiance is quite nice, coffee (French Press) quite good also. But Eggs Benedict was way below average I must say (hollandaise sauce not quite right) and the pancakes (small serving) nothing spectacular. You combine all of this and this place gets barely an average rating. If same food was available for half the cost then one could give above average for the value. Staying clear for breakfast here. Local chain The Coffee Club is a far better bargain in...
