disappointing meal and rude receptionist, despite this a great atmosphere enjoyed with live music

we had booked a reservation for 8pm and was shown a confirmation, we arrived at 7:40 in hopes to have a few drinks before our meal. when we arrived we were told that they hadn’t received our booking on their system which was fine but we were confused as we showed them our confirmation. we were abruptly and rudely told by one member of staff (receptionist who was a white female) that ‘no tables, we are fully booked for the whole night’ and then she walked away. her attitude was terrible and the other two thai lady staff smiled at us apologetically after she sauntered off. they told us to wait a bit after being dismissed from the first lady and a bar table was made readily available in about 20 seconds. after this interaction our moods were very dampened by her rudeness which seemed to be unprovoked as they did have a table. once we ordered and received our food all i can say was that it was very average and lacking in flavour (we had the snails, mussels, some sushi and pizza) nothing stood out that we would call tasty. despite this, the atmosphere and service once we sat down was amazing, ashame that first lady had ruined our service experience from the beginning which is why all i can give is 3 stars, especially with the somewhat high price points.

I would also like to point out that from 9:45 onwards there were plenty of empty tables and they were clearly not fully booked. we were also all dressed up in a group of 5 and ready to splurge on our last dinner of our bangkok trip so we are confused as to why we were abruptly turned...

Great place near by the city center of Bangkok . Walking distance from central world . This bar in inside Anantara Siam hotel . The interior decoration is an open air space with a bar in the middle surrounded by a few restaurants room. Near a fish ponds and small stage for singer to perform . This place is packed during weekend and full with locals or visitors. It’s a gems place for drinks , cigars and with live music . The cocktails by barmen mr. Sanook is very good . His service and other staffs also very friendly and attentive. Great effort training by management. The food also covers variety of continents ( Asian and western ) highly recommend the Friday night singer , she is energetic and could bring joy to the floor . Really enjoy her performance . In this bar , they allows to smoke cigars while enjoying your drinks and musics . It’s one of my favourite place in Bangkok . Car park valet or underground hotel car park . Tucked into the courtyard of Anantara Siam, Aqua isn’t just a bar. It’s really a core bar of the city now. A place to be, if you can get a seat.

Koi drift in the pond by the bar. Hanging plants, live music. Even the air feels cool, despite the outdoor vibe.

Anusorn never disappoints on the drinks. In fact on this particular visit, there was P. Lek and P. Mount as well. All of which showcase the versatile skill of their bartending background. Flavourful custom drinks to well executed signature menu items. Anusorn poured a daiquiri with Issan Rum—clean, sharp.

The service doesn’t interrupt. It reads the room. The team are always attentive, every visit feels like you’re at home and cared for so well you always look forward to the next visit. Certainly for myself this has always been the case.

No posturing. No push. Just presence.

Aqua doesn’t try to be unforgettable. That’s what makes it so. It’s just naturally, one of my favourite places...
