Great decor, poor food, very high price.
I was a longtime fan of Signor Sassi in Siam Paragon, and hated when they closed. So, I was very excited to see Sassi open this Isola concept. Unfortunately the food at Isola is much worse than it was at Sassi.
The decor is great. The restaurant is extremely Instagrammable. Bright space, uniquely decorated with greenery and lots of lemons, makes for a very unique place to have a photo shoot. In terms of decor this is an improvement over Sassi. We were surrounded by people walking all over the restaurant taking photos. Annoying as a diner, but ok.
The service was spotty but ok. Somehow had language barriers both in native Thai and in native English when we tried to ask questions about the menu.
The food was a letdown. Flavor and cooking that simply wasn't up to the previous Sassi standard and certainly shouldn't be affiliated with Sassi now. Appearance was good, very suitable for Instagram. Ingredients were good, but somehow lacked flavor development. Price is high by any standard, but is shockingly high for food that tastes this plain. In terms of taste:price, this may be one of the worst values for high-end Italian food in Bangkok. On top of that, a basic bread basket must be ordered a la carte at 190thb? Robbery.
2 items I really miss from Sassi: the huge green olives and the lemon mint...

Read moreI wanted to love this place. The food was good but the service was terrible. They are overpriced and stingy with the food. I paid $30 for four pieces of ravioli, they overcharged for the olives, I asked for a piece of bread to go with all the sauce since there was barely any ravioli and after pleading with them, it took them forever to bring it. The guy who opened my wine struggled to open the bottle, broke the cork screw and then barely poured any wine. He struggled in front of me for like 3 minutes. And usually when restaurants bring you wine, they let you taste it before pouring an entire glass. This guy just poured. My waiter seem confused and inexperienced. I spent a lot of money here and left feeling disappointed. If you want to pay for ambiance then come here, if you want a quality experience go somewhere else. I think they are able to get away with the subpar service because of their prominent location. They will have to pay me to come back.
Note: initially they didn’t want to give me the piece of bread and suggested I order a bread basket. I just wanted a piece. I had to plead with them to just...
