I do not normally go to these kinds of places. But I was fortunately given the opportunity to see what it was like. I will do my opinions, not taking price into account initially.
I was neither passionately enchanted by the food offered here, nor was I utterly let down. On a scale of 0-10, I sit at around a 6, with 5 being the bare minimum of an ok experience.
The room has a nice design and lighting. Food displays are easy to look at so browsing was easy and manageable on my own. However, this was a slight warning sign to me. If you are able to leave food on display in that manner, it is not a great sign for the quality in my experience. Presentation of everything was fantastic. Plates and cutlery was nice and clean, napkin was too stiff and large to properly use. A subtle detail, but I liked how the knife was designed to balance very easily on the plate!
Food itself was OK. The quality was a bit above average but it is nothing to brag about.
The Tiramisu cake was one of the better ones that we had. It had a smooth light flavor and a little part of the filling had a slight textural contrast, but it really wasn't anything spectacular. I think the balance of mousse to sponge was not perfect; there could've been more sponge. 3.7/5.
Dark chocolate cake was said to be not sweet. And that was true, but it was not sweet to the point of bitterness. The quality of chocolate was subpar to what I had expected. It lacked any true richness (but wasn't out right bad.) It was simply ok. I didn't actually like this one that much. But trying to be objective, this is a 3/5 as it isn't inherently bad, but it was just a bit disappointing. The mousse also left a very tiny bit of a greasy feel to my lips.
Guava ice cream was, to my surprise, not a sorbet. I liked the mixture of fruit, the white 'sauce' topping, the crumble as well as jelly which made a variety of textures. But the jelly didn't really belong in this combination. It felt a bit too much and a bit all over the place. The combination of textures themselves wasn't well thought out either. The guava ice cream was a bit too creamy but had an alright flavor. Muscats were very flavorful and fresh which was probably the tastiest part of this entire visit. 3/5.
Matcha queen mocktail was quite nice. A bit too sweet, but it had a lovely blend of flavors from the matcha, green tea and coconut blossom. The touch of fizz was nice and I liked the spherical ball of ice. I tasted the underlying tone of passionfruit too. 4.5/5. Some sort of coffee drink in a small glass: too bitter- I didn't like this one. It came with a biscuit which was too hard and didn't have enough flavor.
Service was decent. Staff were helpful in explaining, but there were far too many of them just staring at us and being idle. They were able to offer basic food explanations but not too much further than that.
Now, taking price into account. I would not recommend this simply because you can get so much better at other places for a much cheaper price. That's not to say that LV Cafe is bad though. The Cafe is more than mediocre, but less than fantastic. If you have the money, and don't mind not being not blown away, it may be worth it for the experience if you want to tick it off your list. If you are coming for good food, or the stories and thoughts behind a menu, this is not it. But if you are coming to buy LV items and want to see what LV has to offer, then this might add to the that...
Read moreIt was an honor to visit cafes from one of the most well-known fashion brands in the world. Though some of the experience today was really disappointing
The queue is long, and it took around half an hour to enter the cafe. Personally, I enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. The cafe has a mix of naturalist and luxurious architectural designs that blend well with the concept of the brand.
The food display was well decorated, as well as the merchandise. I managed to take some photos of them. If you are a fan of taking photos and posting it online, this would definitely makes one of the best place to do.
The beverages however, was a bit expensive, and might not taste outstanding, but the aesthetics of the dessert are well designed, including the biscuit.
One of the key disappointments is the staffs and services, which it is not really satisfying and worthy of representing the brand. The staffs are biased and their hospitality relies purely on aesthetics and materialism. This does not only show that they are not educated with fashion cultures and could damage the reputation as well. Fashion is about inclusivity and diversity, but some staffs are not trained or have been educated to fashion and their concept itself which makes them judge others by their outer, because customers who doesn't wear expensive clothes doesn't mean they are in a lower class, or why would they come to the cafe at the first place. Luxuries is just one market of fashion and there are many more such as street fashion or haute fashion, every simple person in the fashion community should know this.
I am being completely transparent, I love Louis Vuitton, and their product, but I wish they could make the experience better for everyone. Thank you very much. Please accept...
