Other (better) brunch options in BKK … I hadn’t been to St Regis’ Viu restaurant Sunday brunch in 2-3 years, until today. Back then it had been a favorite brunch spot for my wife & me for a long time, so much so that we were more frequent guests. As a highest tier Marriott Bonvoy member, we’d always received attentive, responsive service from the dining room staff. The service remains first rate & K James deserves a special shout out for his proactive, thoughtful, friendly, & highly professional service — his service is as good as it gets for BKK dining rooms.
We did & do appreciate the more casual ambiance of this brunch venue & its well-mannered clientele, & always enjoyed & looked forward to the varied assortment of high quality, hot & cold food items. The Viu brunch always struck us as having a more than fair price-quality-value proposition — it was a worthy destination in BKK’s very competitive Sunday brunch scene. For us the Viu Sunday brunch in times past had a thoughtfully curated offering — sadly, IMHO, it’s no longer what it once was, & is a ghost of its former self.
I do recognize that venue management must carefully balance its food & service input costs against a desired brunch price point, during these challenging higher inflation times. Notwithstanding, the number & variety of food items on offer seems to have been considerably scaled back across the entire range — from the cold appetizers, charcuterie board, roast meat & fish carving station, hot food line, & through to desserts. Abandoned altogether was a brunch feature of a separate short menu (6 or so choices) of made-to-order special food items, including choices like foie gras or some unique risotto — this special menu made for a more unique dining experience. Surprisingly, certain items advertised to be on the basic menu indeed were not (e.g., Spanish chorizo) & other items were not replenished once gone (e.g. gravlax) & had to be requested as a special order. Also at this visit, the quality of the cold shellfish was quite sub-standard (e.g., still semi-frozen or water-logged crab legs, dried-out boiled mussels). All in all, the menu selection was disappointing & IMO this brunch was not at all comparable to previous visits & worth the brunch pricing (THB 3,200/pax/no alcohol).
IMHO, given the brunch menu changes, there a numerous other higher caliber BKK Sunday brunch options that reflect what Viu once was — frankly, for that reason I’d be hard pressed to return to or to recommend to friends & family the Viu Sunday brunch as it now is. Or perhaps it’s time to revisit St Regis’ Zuma Sunday...

This time, we indulged in the EPIC Dinner, a remarkable new concept inspired by Mediterranean cuisine. It is available every Friday and Saturday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, priced at THB 2,500++ per person.
The restaurant’s ambiance radiates warmth and relaxation, creating a setting that feels like dining with family. Every dish is meticulously crafted, promising an unforgettable culinary journey.
To kick off the evening, every guest is presented with a Seafood Tower, brimming with premium, freshly sourced seafood such as steamed blue crab, Boston lobster claws, Mediterranean mussels, Ayutthaya river prawns, sweet sea snails, Alaskan king crab, and French oysters. Each item is carefully selected to ensure peak freshness and quality.
For the main course, we highly recommend the Red Wine Braised Wagyu Beef Cheeks with Polenta, a seasonal favorite. This dish features tender, premium Wagyu beef, sourced from the lush pastures of southern Queensland, Australia. The beef is slow-cooked in red wine, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth texture with rich, deep flavors—perfectly suited for the autumn season.
Every bite reflects the passion and dedication that goes into crafting these exquisite dishes, ensuring a dining experience that is truly elevated and unforgettable.
