The food is actually ok, above average for the price. But I have issues managing the expectations between the menu pictures and the actual presentation of them. It looked so different (especially the seemingly crispy noodles) that we had to clarify if the dish was the right one we ordered. By the time the dessert came, we just simply laughed as we were anticipating some form of surprise anyways. Yam coconut, we thought it's interesting to have yam paste in the coconut but it turned out that it was just a few small yam balls. Service was average because we asked for the noodles to be changed kway teow for the wanton noodles, the waitress said ok but it came unchanged. We asked and she said oh can't be changed but this was not communicated prior. The restaurant was spacious and the ambience was good. The restaurant is worth going for casual dining but manage your expectations and not trusting wholly in the menu photos and you...
Read moreA myriad of food options at Central World is on offer but equally most eateries are filled up during peak Lunch time on a Sunday. Thanks to the quiet corner location of this branch and fast turnover, you can sit comfortably while enjoying traditional Thai-Chinese cuisine. Their Tom Yum Kung looked tasty and they offered sets for two at great value. Ordered a two-person set which included Tom Yum Kung, Claypot Vermicelli with Mixed Seafood and the Claypot Mapo Tofu. The Tom Yum Kung was filled with good sized fresh prawns, sour and savoury, and could use a bit more heat. The two other Claypot dishes are a bit of a let down as the Claypot was cold, with the wok fried dish laid into the cold pot thus defeating the purpose of a Claypot braising. Lastly the Mapo Tofu were too salty with too much taucheo. The Jasmine tea was great, hot and flavourful but came as a pot for two. Overall a good lunch at a busy mall. Service was...
Read moreMy bro was planning to have some steamed fish for lunch at well-known establishment in Central World. In our past visits to Bangkok, we never had tilapia fish and thought to give it a try this round.
Wow, almost none of the restaurants feature this fish. Grouper, seabass or snakehead could be ordered. We finally decided on this place and ordered steamed seabass fillets as an easy way out. Added a carbo dish of fried rice vermicelli. Both dishes were very well done! Fish was fresh! No trace of fishy smell. The dips that came with it added a new dimension to the otherwise simple dish. A little spicy, a little tangy!
The fried vermicelli was the BOMB! Fragrant, just soft to bite, fresh shrimps to add a touch of luxury. We can eat this everyday!
Hope to come back for...
