Location: great as it's right inside Central world. Nearest bts chidlom or siam or walk from the bus stops nearby. Traffic is usually bad, so take note.
Food, looks really good and it is really good. Love the salmon sashimi. Very fresh and very thick slices. They serve with separate wasabi and ginger slices which come in a saucer which I find really big or the quantity is too little for the saucer?
They serve some kind of starter (see my pic) edamame, and fish skin (I believe). But the presentation is not nice for the standard of this restaurant. Either saucer too big for it or they have given too little?
The beef tapanyaki is really yummy. Highly recommend to try their sashimi and beef.
In terms of service, not as pleasant.
I was finally served to my counter table seat, when it was already ready for a while but they just somehow didn't show me in. When I was in, the server didn't provide me any menu and went off to serve other table with menu and forgotten about me. I tried getting attention but realised that being seated at a corner, means you go un noticed. It was the staff behind the counter who called out to the server to bring me menu. What's more alarming is when she returned with the menu, the second she handed me the menu, she asked me what's my order. I was really shocked as I haven't even opened the menu booklet which she just handed in 1 second before. I had to ask her to come back and she seemed to suddenly realised that I haven't look at the menu.
Overall the service could be better to match the restaurant standard and to be more careful with serving the food or starter dishes, and not just (drop) the dishes on the table top. It was not served, it seems more like, here, go eat.
Another thing which I was puzzle but maybe I need guidance here. Because seated at counter, I can see the activities behind the counter. I saw one of the chef did a great flame torching of the seafood, but he used his bare hands to turn the food to torch the other side. Should he not use a tong or with gloves?
I found that surprising and it was there for a while and not served. Wonder if the food got cold already by the time it was served.
Overall, quality is good, can be back for the food. Service please improve and live up to the Japanese standard,...

Some restaurants are one-hit wonders. Others are good but forgettable. And then there’s MAGURO—the place that keeps pulling me back like I have a direct debit set up for sushi.
I’ve been a die-hard fan since day one, and after countless visits, I can confidently say: MAGURO doesn’t miss. From fresh, high-quality fish to well-balanced flavors and a menu that always gives me decision paralysis, this is sushi done right.
Why This Place Just Works 🍣💥
✅ Top-Tier Quality Without the Ridiculous Price Tag • The sashimi is always fresh, the rice has just the right stickiness, and portions are solid. • Pacific Don? A winner. A mix of ocean fish, edible raw egg, and ikura on top. Looks great, tastes even better. • Foie Gras Sushi? Huge, buttery, impossible to eat in one bite. The sauce is spot-on—rich but not overwhelming. Eat it warm for max enjoyment.
✅ Fusion Rolls That Just Make Sense • The Angel Roll—don’t ask, just order it. It’s the kind of roll that makes you rethink all the mediocre sushi you’ve had before.
✅ Free Appetizers – But Manage Your Expectations • Edamame? Yeah, it’s free, but you get four beans. Cute, but not exactly life-changing. • Fried Salmon Belly? Tasty but on the salty side. Cut back the salt and it’d be perfect.
✅ Soup – Hot, Comforting, Slightly Salty • Comes with the set, good seaweed, decent depth of flavor. A little on the salty side but still enjoyable.
✅ Green Tea – Free Refills Save the Day • Not fancy, but solid. Works well with sushi, especially with a little syrup for sweetness.
Anything to Improve? 🤔
❌ Peak Hours Can Be a Test of Patience – If you roll up at dinner time, expect a wait. Worth it, though.
❌ The Edamame Portion is a Joke – Four beans? Come on, MAGURO.
Final Verdict: Just Go.
MAGURO is consistent, high-quality, and worth every baht. Whether you’re here for a casual meal or a sushi splurge, you’ll leave happy. It’s hands down one of the best value-for-quality sushi spots in town.
📢 Pro Tip: Get the Angel Roll, Pacific Don, and Foie Gras Sushi. If you plan on coming back (which you will), join the membership—it actually...
Read moreMaguro (Central World) has always been one of those restaurants I have always just walked passed, and though I will try this place one day soon, but never got around to it.
A few weeks ago, I finally decided to walk in and try Maguro for the first time. I found Maguro to be better than I had expected. The menu offers a vast variety of traditional Japanese foods and a few Maguro special items. I ordered their mixed seafood salad which comes with a variety of sashimi topped salads and a Japanese dressing. The fishes were fresh and tasty, whilst the salads retains its crunchiness, it was a nice starter to the meal.
I then ordered some Unagi sushi, which were grilled nicely and had a good protein to rice ratio. The sweet umami sauce complements well with the smoky grilled eel.
I had been back to Maguro again a few times after my initial visit and Maguro has now become one of my comfort restaurants to satisfy my...
