Major disappointment. I know Mozza and Cocotte from Bangkok. I am a regular when there. They are pricey, but the quality is there. When in Mozza Bangkok you taste Italy. Not so in Phuket. I had a terrible tagliatelle with mushroom. It had no taste. Pepper and salt had been forgotten, but worse, there was barely a taste of mushroom.I can understand no real porcinis were used, but whatever local replacement were used, were nearly invisible. Instead of olive oil, garlic and parsly , there was tasteless starch. I first thoughtful a moment that it was cream..., that's how tick and white it was. We ordered the lasagne and seafood spaghetti. The lasagne was a bit light on in the meat, compared to a traditional lasagne. My wife said all she could really taste was pasta and béchamel sauce. Was also missing the rich tomato flavour usually found in traditional lasagne.
My seafood spaghetti was nice, but I also felt it lacked some tomato flavour in my opinion (each to their own), and the squid was well overcooked and inedible (hard rubber consistency).
Unfortunately (and I don’t think this is the fault of the restaurant), there was an exercise class out the front of the restaurant that had very loud music and yelling which really detracted from the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere of the place.
Overall, we enjoyed the experience for the most part, but if I do return I will be more selective of what I order, and will check if there is any expected exercise classes outside.
Oh, my wife just said it needed more...
