One of our BEST EVER Dining Experiences in Thailand!!
My wife & I have visited Thailand more than fifty times since our first trip here in July 1991, and during each visit we enjoy a splurge or two at fine dining restaurants.
It was almost exactly nine years ago since my wife & I had first (and last) dined at Opus Wine Bar, so we decided to make a reservation for dinner on Saturday, March 19 to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary, and throughout the evening we were very glad we had done so.
After being seated, we were given complimentary glasses of Prosecco (as we remembered was done when we first dined at Opus in March 2013).
We took our time perusing the extensive menu, and decided to start with Homemade Tagliolini with Canadian Lobster to share (coincidentally, when reading my TripAdvisor review posted in March 2013 before starting to compose this review, I had written that my wife & I had shared lobster with pasta way back then), and the dish was AMAZING...perfectly cooked lobster, obviously very fresh, and so richly flavoured.
My wife ordered Australian lamb cutlets, which she loved, saying they were the best lamb she's ever eaten (and that's saying something, coming from Australia as we do).
I had French Duck Confit, which, like the lobster and lamb, had also been cooked perfectly, with the duck meat coming off the bone with just my fork...no knife needed.
Service was friendly and attentive, without being in any way intrusive.
We were served a Tiramisu, topped with a candle, for our 28th anniversary dessert.
From start to finish, this was certainly one of my wife's & my BEST EVER dining experiences in Thailand, and we can't wait to return again to Opus Wine...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Opus Restaurant in Bangkok, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable culinary experience. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with impeccable service and a warm, sophisticated ambiance that set the stage for an exceptional evening.
The meal was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a masterpiece, crafted with precision and bursting with authentic flavors. The menu showcased a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine, with every plate beautifully presented. The handmade pasta with fresh truffle was a standout—cooked to perfection and paired with sauces that were rich and full of character. The meat dishes were tender and seasoned to perfection.
To complement the exquisite meal, Opus offers an impressive wine selection that truly elevates the dining experience. The owner recommendations were spot on, guiding us to wines that perfectly matched each course. The depth and variety of their wine list is a testament to their dedication to providing a world-class dining experience.
What truly sets Opus apart, however, is the service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality made the evening even more special.
In a city known for its vibrant dining scene, Opus stands out as a true gem. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner, a special celebration, or simply a place to indulge in remarkable Italian cuisine, Opus is the perfect choice. I can't wait to return and savor more of what this exceptional restaurant...
Read more2024: Opus has been a favorite among my family and a classic Italian choice, standing strong for more than a decade. As a long-standing patron, I visit this place at least every year and have seriously considered this establishment as my annual pilgrimage. At this point, I think I've spent enough on meals here to qualify for fractional ownership.
It has a walk-in wine cellar with state-of-the-art selections ranging from budget to politician-expensive-level wines. The carefully curated wine list is no easy feat, but the owners & team do it well. Just make sure it's not on your credit card.
This place also has the kind of culinary standard consistency that would make Swiss watchmakers jealous. Dishes from five years ago taste exactly the same; it blows my mind. Either they've mastered time travel or they've somehow cloned their original chef multiple times.
Fresh seafood, pasta, this place has it all. But my beloved joy is the tiramisu, artfully sprinkled with just enough alcohol to make you question if you are in Rome. The sweetness hits in its most ripened form.
Every truffle dish here also shouts "Truffle" – not in that fake, whispered-truffle-salt way most Italian places go for, or that synthetic scent that makes you wonder if you're actually eating expensive air. No, Opus takes their truffles seriously. They probably have an underground truffle bunker somewhere, guarded by Italian grandmothers. Anything with Opus' truffle is magic.
