Şirvan Sofrasi Restaurant — Restaurant in Fatih

Something very odd happened in this restaurant. As we walked in, the person i thought was the manager treated us really well with lots of attention, and right after our order asked us for a 5 stars review, my girlfriend did it, but i was not persuaded so easily, and as he tried to make me, i did not let him. So, the food was alright, mot a very big portion but enough for our hunger. The price was not too expensive nor too cheap, exceptionally for the drinks that were quite expensive compared to other places. The decoration is quite nice and comfy. So, afterwards i asked for the bill, the waitress brought me, and something weird was in there, i thought it was a 10% service fee (as i dont know how to read turkish) so i told the manager that was odd since i have been around turkey and did not see something like that anywhere, tips were always customary, i was willing to pay it, and would have given him 5 stars for the whole deal, but the manager told me it was a tax fee for paying in cash, (again, really weird) I told him if it was a tax fee it should have been in the price of the meals in the menu, and not magically show up afterwards in the bill, he tried to force me to pay it, but i did not accept it, je ended up charging us the real price. I think they do that to tourists, here in Istanbul they always try to get money out...

After spending a week in Istanbul, I must rate this as a worst restaurant experience we had. As was already mentioned, prices may seem lower than in the neighbouring restaurants, however, so are the portions. At the end of our dinner, we received a receipt with additional charge of 10% that was very surprising since it did not happen anywhere else. We planned on leaving the tip regardless, however, when I asked to round it up by few liras lower, waiter started raising his voice in front of the entire restaurant bringing attention to our table trying to put pressure and I guess humiliate us (?). After we paid he said we shouldn't come back to the restaurant and that we should eat somewhere else... and just to highlight again - we paid the tip so this behavior was really inappropriate and I left the place very very disappointed. If I had known, I would really left nothing. Anyways, I will definitely NOT be back ever again to this tourist trap. There are so much better places in the neighbourhood where they...

Absolutely over rated and way overpriced We ordered 1 French fries 1 falafel plate (5pcs) 1 humus for 93 TL

The portions are a serious joke compared with the price The falafels are cooked from the outside and still like a dough from the inside which means it was made on high heat with a hurry and that’s not the way to make them, i know that for a fact not just a tourist, but as someone who grew up eating it his food as a national dish. The humus was grainy and not mixed well, full of garlic and cumin , over powering the actual flavor of the humus.

Lastly the only reason i paid the bill is that there are people who work hard in the kitchen and its not their fault on their own.

P.S: i wrote the review while sitting there waiting for my friend to finish the food, not because he likes it but he just arrived from the airport.
