My visit to the Old Hippodrome in Istanbul was absolutely unforgettable! The historical significance of the site is awe-inspiring, but what truly made my experience exceptional was the outstanding service and incredibly friendly staff. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. The staff's warm hospitality and attentiveness ensured that I felt relaxed and comfortable throughout my visit. They went above and beyond to provide detailed information and answer all my questions, enhancing my understanding and appreciation of this magnificent landmark.

To top it all off, the Old Hippodrome is situated in the heart of Istanbul, near the iconic Blue Mosque, and surrounded by some of the best authentic Turkish food you’ll ever taste. We ordered The Old Hipodrome mix BBQ platter for two, which had a mix of several kabobs, a couple of lamb chops, chicken wings, fries, rice and some grilled veggies with a yogurt dip. This dish cost 1800TL, and the plater we received was not what was pictured in the menu or the picture of the platter on the wall in the restaurant. The plater we received was smaller, and had less veggies than in the round platter advertised (the photo below is unfortunately after we finished most of the meat) The food was mediocre, not worth what it cost. There was not a lot of taste and one of the chicken wings was still bleeding. The service was ok. As for the atmosphere, we got tired of the music being a Latin/Mexican mix that kept repeating. The server brought us two complimentary small bits of baklava and two teas after we finished our meal, which was a nice touch, although we later saw that they do that for...

We had two problems: we ran out of room in our stomachs, and we should’ve come last night as well. The food was delicious— the best içli kofte, the lentil soup was flavorful and rich, the eggplant paste and yaprak sarma were tasty vegetarian options, and the manti (Turkish ravioli) was incredible. We loved everything. Our server Mazhar was kind and helpful with a friendly sense of humor—he kept us laughing through our visit. It was truly a wonderful meal.
