Excellent location, walking distance to AyaSofia, Basilica Cistern, Bus tour, Blue mosque, grand bazar & Topkapi palace. You can visit the three places same day. The Hamam Turkish bath is the best, once you come from flight you should use the Turkish bath in the basement. Ask the front desk and they will prepare and accommodate. Best staff very helpful in tour and restaurants. We went to fish restaurant, night cruise, and day cruise which includes Dolmabatche palace. The Hagia sofia as they call is famous, if you continue straight from the entrance there is Ahmed restaurant, the best food and the lady prepare the bread upon request, 300 TL =1$. Then all the way you will end up in the gardens of Topkapi, on the right side is the entrance to the palace. The Basilica entrance is close to Hagia sofia, you will see it while you are in line to enter. All these places are with fees. Most 40 TL. The Dolmabache palace the newer palace of the last Sultans is amazing, don't miss it, 64 tons of gold, and 37 tons of silver, European chandeliers and furniture. The day cruise was good too. If you walk straight from the sharp uphill that leads to Hagia sofia, you will end up in the Grand Bazar. Haggle all the time. The rooms aren't that big, but it was good for us, comfy beds, excellent service, great location, and good breakfast. All the staff helped us to go to restaurants, we went to famous fish restaurant, grill and sultan night. We enjoyed the food and the service. They are not cheap but worth. The grill restaurant that they recommended Develeri they throw roses when you order a bottle, excellent service if you tip ahead good tip. They prepared a tray of fruits never seen in any restaurant. I will recommend it for anyone who cares to see the old city and visit those archeological sites. You can also stay there for few days until you visit all these areas, then move to GLK in Taqsim, I'm sure it will be great too. You will save lots of money instead of having tour. The staff are awesome, I want to mention there names but my sister took the paper. I would say all and each of one them make sure to comfort people, very...
Read moreI have been to Turkey four times and decided to try a new hotel which got decent reviews online. They said it was newly remodeled a year ago and online pictures showed basically a decent sized room that was well appointed. First of all when we looked at the hotel from the outside I was shocked as to how dingy it was, it look like a two-star motel but then I thought maybe the interior is remodeled and looks a lot nicer. To my dismay, there's literally no lobby and one guy behind the counter who hardly speaks English. The receptionist never smiles and doesn't look like he enjoys his job. We walked into the room and it was the size of a closet. I asked for king bed and what I got was two twins with two separate mattresses next to each other with two different blankets for my wife and I. The room had hardly any space to walk. I don't think this was remodeled there's paint chipping everywhere cracked baseboards bathroom was falling apart. They don't have proper lighting in the rooms. I have to depart one day early and I asked for courtesy refund for the last day and he vehemently refused. There's no concept of customer service. I had about 10 bags to carry downstairs. The bell boy took 15 minutes to come uptairs; He took two pieces of luggage and dropped it on the first floor and disappeared. Myself and the driver had to load all of it in the van. When I asked the front desk manager why didn't he help us load the luggage, he said I don't know shrugged his shoulders and looked away. You get what you pay for. I have stayed at Sura hotels and other brand name hotels and never have I felt so icky and I didn't want to use the bathroom because it was falling apart. I urge you not to consider this hotel It's soured our experience, there are many trusted brands including the Doubletree Old Town down the street etc but...
Read moreToday I leave Turkey and it has been an enjoyable vacation that I have shared with my Mother.I decided to write this review because,of a few things. My first thank you is to the staff at the Hotel for making us feel welcomed. This matters when you are away from home. There is one staff member I would like to send a warm thank you to and that is the Manager Naceti.Thank you,for being helpful with giving your honest advice about the places of interest that we intended to visit .My third thank you is for being kind to my Mother by helping her to walk down the front steps of the building each time we left along with Ferhat one of the Waiters at the Hotel. There were only five steps but, I appreciate the help because, this made my Mother feel secure. Our room was clean and felt more like a home than a Hotel.I regret not being able to use the Turkish Bath but,it is available for those who want to experience this. We also enjoyed the traditional Turkish Breakfast with eggs, olives ,cheese, bread ,and an assortment of other items".This breakfast included tea and other hot beverages for anyone who's favourite meal is breakfast. (smile) Lastly, thank you for being honest about being cautious when hiring Taxi's in Istanbul. He ordered us one from the station which cost less.My advice to anyone visiting Turkey is to find out how much the fare will be before getting into a taxi. When we left the Egyptian Bazaar one Taxi Driver quoted us 700 Turkish Liras and the one we decided on charged us 400 Turkish Liras to bet back to the Hotel.Just a word of caution.Happu travelling to anyone who os on their...
