About us : We were four of us staying in the hotel for over 4 nights. We occupied totally 3 different rooms.
The owner : Mr Mehmet was very welcoming and provided us with all information for best place to go to massage, hamam, sea food, bazaar areas, buy spices, visit the museums and touristic spots as well. He is a wonderful guide and very jovial and very fun! He is always greeting you and your family with a smile!
Location : The hotel itself is very close to Blue mosque, The water cistern which is newly renovated, the technology museum, the archeology museum, the Gulheni Park, Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia. If you want a peaceful seaside walk also you can find it is very close to the sea shore and the sunrise and sunsets are really beautiful from the terrace in this hotel. Very breathtaking and amazing scenic and idyllic!
Breakfast and Food : The breakfast is a good spread of cheese, pastrami, bread, eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, many type of olives, turkish coffee, turkish chai (tea), paneer (cottage cheese), milk and other condiments. Upon request, you may bring your own dinner here. We stayed almost 4-5 days and one of the days my family was really tired and we decided to parcel food from outside in a packet and MR.Mehmet provides you the space for using it as a dinner space. This was very convenient for us.
Room : The room is beautifully and very delicately decorated with gilded fabrics, makes you feel you are staying in a mini Topkapi palace. The rooms are very well equipped with wardrobe, safe, drawers, bedside tables, a computer table, dressing table, an additional credenza, a TV with remote, fresh linen and soft pillows. The room also comes with soft slippers, a laundry bag, etc.
Toilet : The toilets were really clean, with hot water, clean towels, face towels, toiletries, mirror and handles to place your clothes upon, a hair dryer, a toilet with bidet (health faucet) and toilet paper. All toilets have an exhaust.
Terrace: This is the most beautiful place to be. You can even bring your own condiments and enjoy an evening here with the sunset and watch the ships and city night life light up as the sun is setting into the ocean. It is simply very mesmerizing and worth coming to this hotel even if it is just for the view alone. You can also see the blue mosque from the terrace and fantastic spot for selfies.
Access: All cabs, taxi is available. Trams is walking distance so it is very convenient.
Lift : there are internal lifts for access to other floors.
Overall : We as a family really enjoyed ourselves at this Hotel with their warmth and hospitality. We will recommend to everyone who wants to stay in sultanahmet area and surely for families with children and couples who want a quiet time by themselves. It is an exclusive Gem hidden in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Istanbul giving 5 star service and we are very lucky we found this place and had the pleasure of meeting...
Read moreThe stay at Coliseum was a birthday gift to my son and his girlfriend - they spent there 6 nights and absolutely loved it! The rooms are very comfortable, beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfast was a feast, and even for one of them, who is a vegetarian, there was plenty of choice. The views from the window of their bedroom were breathtaking. All the staff, and particularly Mr Mehmet Ozkan, were terrific - very helpful and could not do enough to make their stay as pleasant as possible. On learning that it was my son's birthday, they put wine and fruit in their room and when I offered to pay, they would not hear of it! I would recommend this hotel to everyone, who wants to have a happy stay in Istanbul. Thank you very much...
Read moreWe spent 1 night here as a stopover for our flight. The hotel is clean, check in was efficient. The single room is tiny and double room not much bigger. The lift can only accommodate 1 person and luggage at a time. The rooms were clean, bed comfortable and shower was good. Breakfast was okay. The hotel is located behind most of the popular sites in the square. However there a incline which you have to walk up to reach the square. If you have mobility problems then I would recommend walking the long way round. The owner was very helpful when I needed assistance with my airport transfer. I would stay...
