Cratus is a gem in Cappadocia. I had wanted a special dinner for my spouse's birthday celebration; looking at the reviews and rating, I picked Cratus. I'm so glad I did.
I pinged them upfront from before arriving in Goreme. They were very courteous over the phone, and extremely responsive communicating via WhatsApp. When I explained that it was a special occasion, they suggested immediately that they could decorate the table with dried flowers (which came out beautifully).
When we arrived, the service was exemplary. Special mention to Celal, who waited on us - he was super-friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. Took care of us really well.
The food was outstanding! We ordered the Lamb Shank, Baby Lamb Chops, and Local Ravioli. Everything was cooked to perfection. The wine was superlative too (they also have a full bar too). At the end of the meal, they brought the dessert with sparklers (to celebrate the birthday).
The owner/manager is constantly on the restaurant floor, attending to various things himself. He spoke to us to ensure we were well taken care of.
The view is spectacular. The open-air restaurant, combined with the location, makes for a fabulous setting.
All in all, a fantastic experience! I'd highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a...
Read moreMy friend chose this restaurant to celebrate her 30th bday and she didn't regret it!
First of all, the staff was very supportive and ready to help with all the queries, such as bringing the cake from outside, moving the booking due to our tour being delayed and these kinds of things.
The location is just so good. You have a beautiful view of the city and you can tell this is a restaurant in a very good hotel. The staff made sure our glasses (even the water ones) were never empty, the bread was always filled and our dirty dishes were always taken before the new dish was served. Additionally, they added more sparkling candles to the cake and sang with their happy faces, it was so nice!
The food is so good and I was expecting to pay even more, so wow! The pottery kebab one of us ordered was burnt and they were too quickly to replace it. I had the Cappadocia Ravioli and they were so yummy! My friend had the lamb and she was so happy with it.
Honestly, this restaurant was the perfect way to celebrate her birthday and it is one of the highlights of our trip! Thank you to the whole staff, both servers and chef who did...
Read moreWow, just wow. The food, the service, the ambiance, the simultaneous comfort and elegance, all made our final meal in Cappadocia one of the most memorable dinner experiences I’ve had, not only in Turkiye but throughout my travels. The red wine was exquisite and the baked pear dessert had the most spectacularly unique flavour profiles. For our mains we ordered the sliced chicken, baby lamb chops, and sirloin. In hindsight, I wish we swapped the chicken out for the ratatouille/vegetable dish or an appetizer to add some balance to the meal, I’m sure it would’ve been delightful. The staff deserve a shout out for going the extra mile in every respect. I hope by the time you go, the tall gentleman with glasses is still there because he is really great (I’m sorry, I forget his name). Basically, If you’re reading this, go to Cratus. Treat yourself. And also ask them about the hot tub...
