I am new to Google reviews and sadly this is my first review. (I wish it was more positive!) We brought our friends who were visiting from the UK to the Friday evening brunch. Within a short time of being seated the manager, Mr Pacvlos came over to introduce himself, he was lovely, very friendly and the evening started off so well. Unfortunately Mr Pacvlos soon finished his shift and from that point on our evening went down hill.
The service was shockingly bad. The food was delicious when it eventually arrived- minus one meal! It’s an all inclusive package but you will wait an eternity for a drink, we were there for 3 hours and we had 3 drinks. (It’s not easy getting a waiter over, they appeared to be short staffed and reluctant to serve drinks.) We waited over an hour for starters, a further hour for main meals- 1 meal did not arrive. We asked the waiter for the remaining meal, he said he would get it, he did not. 30 mins later we asked the manager on duty for the meal, again it did not arrive. 2.5hrs after we sat at our table we again asked for the remaining meal that had still not arrived even though everyone else in the party had finished eating and the manger on duty said you’ve had all your meals, that’s it. He was very argumentative and said that they had served all meals and he was adamant that we had received everything we ordered. (I told him again that my husband had not eaten and his meal had never arrived and he continued to argue that we had received all of our meals. He was rude and very argumentative. By 11pm we decided to pay the bill and go home, leaving a table full of dirty dishes that were never cleared, minus the deserts that are part of the set menu but were never offered. An awful experience, made worse by a rude and officious duty manager. Sad to say will not return to eat at Ammos again even though the food when you eventually get it is...
Read moreI recently visited Ammos for brunch, choosing it specifically because I was assured they had gluten-free and vegetarian options available. However, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing. Upon arrival, I found there was no vegetarian main course listed on the brunch menu. When I inquired, I was offered mushroom risotto or vegetable pasta – neither of which felt like a good selection, nor were they authentically Greek dishes.
After pressing further, I asked if there were any other Greek options that could be made, but the chef informed the staff that these were the only two choices. The manager explained that we should have called ahead to arrange a vegetarian meal, which I found surprising. In 2025, when vegetarianism is so widely practiced, I didn’t expect to encounter this issue, and the booker hadn’t been informed of this requirement either.
For the meat-eaters at the table, their main dishes arrived, and it would have been easy to offer a halloumi-based version of those dishes.
The manager also mentioned that the main menu isn’t very accommodating for vegetarians. This was a bit of an eye-opener and left me feeling let down, especially given the fact that there are numerous Greek restaurants in Dubai that cater brilliantly to vegetarian needs.
While the staff and managers were friendly, the overall brunch experience was disappointing, especially when it comes to catering to dietary...
Read moreRixos JBR, is a gorgeous property, Ammos, is located next to their fabulous pool & private beach off course. It’s a Greek eatery, massive windows, over looking the beach, a large wooden deck, where you could relax in better weather.
So we went for dinner, on a weekday so it was quite, we were told the Friday brunches that only happen in summer are pretty busy & as the weather cools down the dinner time would need reservations.
Now let’s get down to the food affair, we were well guided by the staff & went with their recommendation. Started with some Tzatziki, comes with hot pita bread, Tyropita, is my personal favorite, it’s feta wrapped in fillo pastry, on a bed of watermelon. Melitzonsalata, is an eggplant based dip, comes with garlic bread. A bowl of Greek salad, with lots of crunchy veggies, a generous helping of feta & crotons for that extra crunch factor. The star of our dinner, was the fried calamari, they were a generous portion & were so fresh and crispy ! Delicious! For mains, it was simple, a chargrilled sea bass & a baby chicken, this place has a no freeze policy the seafood is fresh and mostly locally sourced. Followed by desserts, the came of a wooden board, a yogurt based pana cotta & some home made ice cream with some crispy nuts stuffed sweet spring rolls...
