Went there as a party of 7 on the 30 august 2025.lady who was in our group and works in the pub ,bar industry, went to the bar ,and was served???.by a young female member of the staff. Now as the beers were all poured well short of a pint and the glasses had no pint line on them She was asked to top them up simultaneously, up to a full pint, which she did,and they were handed out simultaneously . She obviously didn't like to be asked to do this ,as after 3 pints poured ,she then accused the person in our party at being rude to her , Which she wasnt.the manageress, then demanded 3 of the beers back from our group of 7 people, which were untouched and then asked us to leave .So at this point we had paid in advance for 7 beers and only 3 had been poured and recieved. When we handed the three pints back as requested, the lady in our group asked for a refund from the manageress.Which was refused. Now bearing in mind that 4 pints hadn't been poured. She was being unreasonable again,as you can't be charged for something you have never received. She then threatened us with calling the police, which I said ,yes please do.And you will find it's illegal to change for something ,you haven't had. After a long stand off,and repeated requests for a refund. A refund was eventually received . Other customers unfortunately were getting hacked off with the situation, and this certainly was never our intention. I apologise to them on behalf of our group.Maybe the manageress might get around to doing the same ?. All I can say is she ,had no manners ,has the inability to deal with basic situations, didn't understand the customer is always right, and didn't understand the weights and measures ACT laws . These are the government bodies who act on this when an incident is reported to them.So my advice is to stay clear of this place, unless your happy to pay for a short measure. Now ,if you really do want to go there.make sure you order is fully fulfilled and on the bar, before you part with any cash or credit/debit card. Ive never experienced anything like this in my life.

In a reply to your response ,the person at the bar wasn't intoxicated,as she wouldn't have been served in the first place. As you well know you can speak to someone ,and in the first sentence, you know if they are intoxicated or not.You don't serve someone, pour three beers, with the intention of serving more, then decide the persons intoxicated. Also we were served after we left in other bars with no issues whatsoever,we even ate somewhere else. The fact is the person at the bar didn't like to be told to top the beers up to a full pint, and obviously cant handle any sort of confrontation .Another point in question is you haven't read the article I posted in full. That clearly states ,that after much effort from our group member at the bar ,a refund was eventually issued. And yes I personally, and I am sure that the rest of our group will enjoy drinking elsewhere...

Spot on rustic modern and classic british menu with meaty parfiat and pefectly crusty bread, juicy firm home cured salmon thick succulent and subtly smoked to perfection with a light lemony cream compote to complete a delicious graze and on top.of that chunky chips with the firm softness only possible from someone who trully knows what they are doing in their kitchen and really knows how to do it. Exquisite cauliflower cheese with the precise amount of cheddar kickback requited by a most seasoned foodie and whitebait with home made tartare sauce that I couldnt improve onno matter how much I tried. I love this place the food is suprisingly exactly how it reads on the menu but the suprise is the thought that has gone into the menu and the quality of food that arrives on every plate. Quenching lagers and Ales which endear and befit the customers. This Brewery Tap to me is a godsend and knocks any other british menu in the area out of the running. If you know anything about modern British food you will recognose every dish on the menu and if you dont love what this place and the staff are all about then you dont deserve a seat. I will love this place forever and ever. I have found the best menu and the best food in Chester and The Brewery Tap is hopefully modestly aware how bery special it really is. Thank you for a suprisingly...

The Brewery Tap and King’s Kitchen @ Chester, UK

💭The Brewery Tap and King’s Kitchen resides in an old Jacobean hall. It was said to have been visited by King Charles I.

It was recommended to me by a local Chesterian English Heritage who was providing tour guide over at nearby Agricola Castle.

English Heritage is a charity that cares for over 400 historic buildings, monuments and sites in Great Britain.

Atmosphere: Casual, relaxed neighborhood pub and kitchen that can be found in an old Jacobean hall. Very popular with locals with take out and dine ins.

Service: Order over the counter. Food and drink will be served to you. Staff is friendly, courteous and can provide good recommendations.

Food: Ordered their wickedly good Sunday Beef Roast paired with their smashing Lost in Time Hazy ne Pale beer.

The Sunday Roast’s beer were tender and juicy, roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, carrots and Swede mash was soft, velvety and sweet, cheesy leeks had a nice smokiness to it, Yorkshire pudding was soft and savory. It all goes well with a side of greens and horseradish.

Lost in Time Hazy ne Pale beer paired really well with the Sunday beef roast . It was refreshing, fruit forward, citrus and with the right amount of bitterness from the hops. A perfect...

My wife's family are from the area, and we came to visit with the kids. Her cousin decided we should have a pub crawl, and I recon it was a great idea. This was our second stop of the evening. We already had a few pints in us, and conversation was easy. This pub, as well, is older than my home country (Canada). I think a local might underestimate how novel that is to me. Was disappointed they didn't have any Bud Light... JUST JOKING!!!!! Hahaha, sorry. I had a cidre, which used to be brewed in my area (Eastern Townships of Quebec), but the craft has slowly dissipated (it's making a comeback). The cidre was delicious. I had an IPA as well. Everything was great (you'll notice a theme if you follow the rest of our pub crawl, as I like to drink). My wife watches Outlander, so the Jacobean connection was kinda cool. Alright, I watch it too. But to be honest it's a better option than Say Yes to the Dress. There's some partial nudity on the show, and the historical content is pretty interesting. Right, it's been going on for 7 (confirmed) seasons, and I'm the only one watching it. Right. We didn't stay too long, maybe 30-45 minutes. We had other places on our pub crawl. Would love to go back and try some more! Follow me up the street for more reviews....

Absolutely brilliant. I came to Chester expecting little, and am stunned. Venue, ambiance, innovation in food, great service. Startling. A wide selection of craft beers. My hors d oeuvre was fried whitebait with lemon and tartar sauce. Daring and rewarding. Cooked until tender but lightly crisp. My entree was a beef pie. The pastry cap was light and fluffy, with no bottom crust. The beef was tender, stewed with a local Spitting feathers old Wavertonian stout. I will be coming back to try the rest of the menu.
