My wife and I ordered at the counter and got told to find a table and they'd call our number out. We sat outside in the far corner and met with some other family members who had already ordered. It was a windy day with music playing and our 1 year old was making quite a bit of noise. I watched staff coming out by the entrance and barely making any noise when calling orders but was also trying to catch up with my cousin. We sat patiently for 20 minutes and neither ours or my cousins orders came. I noticed the staff were no longer making coffees but seemed to be having a good chat so went inside (the place was really quiet with no one inside and outside half full) to ask the guy we ordered with if the drinks and food were on the way and he asked what we ordered then looked to show me 4 old coffees on the side and said they made them 20 minutes ago. I apologised for not hearing them calling either of our orders, handed him both receipts we'd been given and he said they'd remake them but to "make sure we listened out this time". Not being funny, I totally appreciate we missed them calling the numbers which was on us but my cousin and I were trying to hear them and I think without sitting in complete silence we'd have always struggled. Also, the place is not very big at all and it wouldn't have taken a lot to venture out slightly further than just the entrance to call an order and find who's it was. The staff clearly couldn't care less as they must have known there were 4 people there without coffee but seemed too busy having a good time. Anyway, we waited 5 more minutes and the barista came outside, looked me dead in the eye and shouted order 14. Okay, we didn't hear you the first time, I get your point. She gave us my cousins order then went inside. I waited 5/10 more minutes then went in again, asked a different staff member if order 16 was on the way. He said order 116 has just been made and is coming. I explained we were still waiting on 16 not 116 and he said "oh yer it'll definitely be getting remade now". I asked if he was sure as only 2 drinks had come so far. The barista looked through her checks and couldn't find it then the first guy I ordered from came out and had clearly lost one of the receipts. He asked what we originally ordered then I headed back outside and waited a few more minutes. In all that time not one person apologised for the wait or took any responsibility for what happened. Eventually the food and coffee came and the 2nd guy I had spoken to casually put the coffee down and said in a really arrogant and cocky tone "sorry for the wait". It had been 40 minutes since we first ordered to get a coffee and sausage roll.
The only saving grace was the coffee was actually really good (hence not just one star) but the staff were just so arrogant and rude that it really lets the place down. I've no doubt they're used to dealing with tourists all day and it can be hard work but I manage a very similar place and it's one thing for a customer to make a mistake (us not hearing them call the order) but the way they handled it was so bad. The place could do with a manager on site who is a bit more responsible and alert compared to the staff...

Here’s what happened: we went in to get some coffee and ordered an Americano with milk and a Flat White with soy milk. I should mention that we were the only ones in line—no other customers were waiting for their orders or standing behind us.
As we sat down, two girls walked into the café, and from what we could tell, they were friends of the cashier. She left the register, and they started chatting loudly, giggling, and congratulating her on her birthday. When their birthday talk ended and they moved on to other topics, I realized that no one was making our coffee.
I very politely asked about our order. Only then did they finally start making it, and here’s where it got interesting: the girl was visibly annoyed that I had interrupted her chat with her friends, and she was even a bit rude. Then, she started insisting that no one had told her one of the coffees was supposed to be with soy milk, which is impossible—I always make my order very clear. It’s hard to forget to mention something like that when you have lactose intolerance.
In the end, she acted like she was doing me a favor and grudgingly made my coffee with soy milk, but she didn’t add any milk at all to the second coffee.
Also, the tables were dirty and sticky, and the staff clearly didn’t care about cleaning them.
This experience completely ruined my coffee run, and honestly, it’s no surprise that this place puts off so many people despite the...
Read moreI’m not one to ever write a negative review, but I can’t ignore the way I’ve just been treated at this cafe! I ordered an iced latte and went to sit outside. As I was outside I realised i should’ve ordered a hot coffee instead of iced, so I went in to ask if I could change it. Before even getting a chance to speak, the barista said ‘can you go and sit down and we’ll deliver the drinks to you like everyone else thanks’ in a very rude way. I said sorry I’m not here to collect I’d like to see if I could change my drink order. Straight away it was a rude ‘not if I’ve made it, can you sit down and we’ll bring it to you’ I then see my order and they’ve made it as a hot coffee, so I said ‘oh this is my order I think you’ve made a mistake as I ordered it as a iced latte but actually came here to change it to hot’ and again, very rudely, not acknowledging the error, said ‘worked out then didn’t it’. I’m sorry this was SO rude, never seen anything like it, on a sunny Saturday in Brighton this behaviour was uncalled for and simply won’t be returning on this basis - which is a shame as the coffee is usually lovely. Rude staff - particularly the barista. (despite the man who was running the drinks -...
